Headnoise

Hi all. I purchased an 05 STI in June and have been plagued by an exhaust resonance frequency issue that is not only annoying, its causing headaches. First of all i thought it was only me, but just about everybody that gets in the car complains about the 'exhaust'.

Feedback from the manufacturer is that the noise is 'a normal characteristic of the vehicle'.

I was wondering if anybody else has experienced the same thing. Best way to observe it is all windows down, driver only in the car (yes it does make a difference), slight load (either up or down a hill is best), around 1400-1600rpm. Resonance is definately one by 2000rpm. Last guy that tested it laughed when I suggested he try iit in my car. Came back three minutes later with the following description:- 'an alteration of pressure on the ears as well as an audible frequency change'.

Would really appreciate any feedback as the last thing i want to do is to have to sell the car. Apart from this issue the car is absolutely sensational.

By the way, our STI's are 2.0L over here (where the Ashes used to be).

HAHA Bless you with the Ashes, got to admit a good result.

I would say the noise is just because of you letting the revs go so low, i would just change gear and keep the revs above 2.5, after all it is a performace car.

either that or change your exhaust for a performance one.
