Default Does 'Sport' make same Turbo 'Exhaust Burble'

Our neighbour really likes our wagon since we got ours last month and would ideally love one, but budget and insurance stops play on the turbo versions.

The probably real simple question that i'm asking on behalf is, what non turbo versions of the wagon are there and do they make the same nice exhaust burble of the turbo and could they but a back box/ sytem to give that. Next they'll be asking where they can get a scoop for the bonnet .

They were looking at a MG ZT-T, please help me to convince them to buy a wagon. It would look cool to have two parked out front

Cheers for the help

The 'burble' to which you refer is caused by the car having un-equal length exhaust headers/manifolds. This is s cost-cutting measure that has been applied to most Imprezas, rather than a design consideration and a normally aspirated car would sound (relatively) similar to FI one, if it was fitted with an open exhaust.

I would assume he means 'forced induction' which is what a turbo'd or supercharged engine has.

The open exhaust is just a way of referring to a bigger bore exhaust that changes the normal exhaust note - an aftermarket back box would do the same..

I had a bug eye GX sport a saloon but with a Hayward & Scott back box sounded nice, obviously not the same as a turbo but definately a distinct burble.

Forced Induction; as opposed to Normally Aspirated; sorry. As Horico says; an 'open exhaust' is one where the exhaust gas passes straight through (silencing by absorbtion rather than obstruction; leaving lower frequency sound to pass through), as opposed to the baffled type used by manufacturers.

dont understand ppl buying n/a scoobs, unless they really love the look of them and dont mind having no performance, cos in all fairness we all know a starlet turbo would fleece a 2.0 n/a scoob

suppose yeah, but personally id rather a 1.3 starlet turbo and then get a turbo scoob rather than buy a n/a scoob first, at least if u get a n/a scoob dont try give it that "turbo replica" look

Does the sport still have 4WD, cause I can see why it appeals to some people, how many 4wd sport saloons for can you get for the same price as a Scooby sport.

I am 18 and have just bought a sport...i have to wait untill i turn 19 next month before i can insure that!!
I wanted the car for the looks, handling, and power (compaired to my 1.2 corsa. and i don't drive fast anyway, it would be nice to be able to get around the hills where i live without dropping into first though )
For people that say 'why buy a sport'....with the insurance difference and with stupid fuel prices of today, unless you race the car then why buy a turbo??...
(i can see this being a controversial coment )

IMHO, when fitted with a performance exhaust, the sports are louder than the Turbo versions. IIRC, a turbocharger can act as a "silencer", I can vouch that my mates old sport with H+S full system is louder than his current Turbo with H+S full system!
