Default Upgrade of Sti 04 to 05???

Ok lads need a bit more advise and I need to make a decision and just wondering what ye think. Is a 05 Sti worth £2,500 more than a 04 Sti Type Uk. The 04 has about 8k miles and the 05 has about 5kmiles. Both cars are standard. I know the 05 is an updated version with a few more gadgets but is it worth the extra? I am considering buying one of them.

Cheers.

I can't comment on the price differential, but there is quite a difference in spec beyond "gadgets" The 05 has different wheels both in spoke design and wider tyres. The track is also wider (10 mm I think) and as such the rear wheel arches are wider. The 05 has DCCD which gives you some manual control over the power to front and rear (handy if it snows!). The 05 has a different dash (stereo and heater controls from the forrester) and steering wheel and I believe the bonnet scoop is much bigger. The 05 is much tighter on turn in and although it can still understeer it is better than the 04, however road noise is more pronounced as a consequence of the wider tyres.

I was in a very similar position about a year ago whan I was faced with a heavily discounted new 04 and a gleaming new 05. After a couple of lengthy test drives I bought the 05. It just feels more solid.

Hope this helps

Don't forget free PPP with new 05 car, factor that in when comparing 2nd hand.

Test drive the MY06, then make your choice. Cant see it costing much more then the 05 STi, exspecially the Euro imports that will be coming in.

Thanks lads, and Zappa that was a very good report. When I said I could upgrade to the 05 model, it is an EU Import but has the cat 1 alarm etc. Just wondering would the type uk be a better buy inder the conditions above. Its a balance between Type UK V EU Import and £16k and £18.5k and 04 model V 05 model. I am not paying much attention to the mileage as they are fairly alike.

Decisions decisions...

I'd go for the 05. Make sure the 05 has DCCD - not all EU imports have. New 05s are available from Motorpoint at £19k without DCCD and £20k with.
