Depreciation - advise pls
I have a UK MY98 Turbo. I’d like to change it possibly for a Type R. Thing is I just paid for a new kitchen and for my wedding so I am broke! The car wont come along for perhaps another two years now. Should I sell the current Scoob and stick the money to one side towards the next one or do you think in two years it wont have de valued all that much and I my as well keep it until then?
TIA

TBH, you probably won't lose too much now. Classic's depreciation will slow now they bought out the FUGLY mk2 (MY06)
I've got an MY99 (UK) that is in the same boat - I reckon it's worth at tops £6000 (with 90K on the clock/FSH)
I'm biding my time at the moment - no such thing cheap motoring though (especially with Scoobies!!! )

Problem is that Type-R's have leveled off in price and might even start to go up in price as no more will be imported into the UK and their demand is going up!

Just gotta hope if you keep it, something major doesn't go wrong.
Clutch - £600
Engine - £2500
Gearbox - £ ??
Hopefully you'll have no probs other than just (expensive) servicing, but if any of the above goes, then you'll just be shelling good money to a car you'll then be selling in less than 2 years.
