It is helpful advice; VTA dump vlaves are ****e and serve no purpose. You car will be better off with the OEM re-circulating dump valve.

Best thing to do is take it off the car and take it apart if it has the allen bolts round the top, thats what i did when mine was sticking, just give it a clean up and check the spring isnt jammed and then put it back together and put it back on and see how it is.

Ignore the helpful peeps that seem to think vta dumpvalves are the equivalent of raping old ladies or something it's your car have it how YOU want it

Yeah Forge do a re-circ too, it looks nicer than the o/e Subaru recirc but doesn't do the job any better. I'm not sure what the price differenc is, IIRC the Subaru one is about £69 +VAT (plus about another £45 for the associated hoses if you don't have them).

FYI my STI Type R ran like a bag of cr@p when I bought it (it had a VTA fitted by the pevious owner). It was also noticably down on power as it was only holding at about 0.9bar of boost instead of 1.2bar.

Quality upgrade - not.

I downgraded to a Subaru o/e re-circ as soon as my dealer could get one in for me.

Whatever you do DONT take it off and replace with OEM version - they are silent and will make your car lose power!

Those who knock VTA's only do so because they know they are missing out on an additional 30bhp as well as super fast throttle response. How may cars ran at TOTB with a humble OEM re-circulating d/v I wonder!

Worse comes to worse - bite the bullet and buy an even bigger VTA = even more BHP.

well i have just taken it off and replaced it with the standard re- circ one (does the arrow on the re-circ have to point to the air filter?) cause it is at the moment and it runs fine.

IMHO the noise form the forge one was a bit crap sounds like a horse

should i just stick with the re-circ or upgrade to a better DV?

cheers for opinions!

I have a HKS SSQV VTA on mine and I notice no difference in performance good or bad. It also idles fine and does not pop or back fire etc..

If you want the noise of a VTA get the HKS as it sounds nothing like the forge one as they make your car sound like a bus, I used to have one on my pulsar. The HKS one is pretty loud, louder than the forge but once inside the car it aint that bad and below 3000rpm when driving in towns etc.. you can hardly hear it.

Below is a link of a supra with one, mine sounds like that at about 4000 rpm. At higher boost it changes sound and it does sound good despite what others say on here. If you get bored of the sound you can either buy a diferent insert or the the re circ adaptor and plum it back in.

Enjoy and dont listen to the oldies!!
