All the Northern Meet 4 ones have been edited aswell, although it does say it's still on. Thing is, I can't remember where or when we were meant to go.

Looks like MTR has removed his entire Scoobynet contribution (except for posts on the "...distressing images" thread which is closed and therfore uneditable.)
No doubt this is as a result of the recent censorship debate.
Shame.

Otis - I made a note of the details:

Northern Meet 4
Sunday 24th September, 9:30am at the Eastbound side of the Birch services (between J18/19) on the M62.

Given that MTR's posts over on bbs.22b.com are still present, and that the posts on it does look to be something to do with MTR leaving scoobynet. There's a post still visible from him, which says:

quote:
If this site is allowed to degenerate into a non family type site, then yes I will do as you suggest, I WILL STOP MY CHILDREN USING IT, ALONG WITH MYSELF.

Hmmm...

hmmm...

We don't know for sure if this is the case but...

If it is, I can't help but be a little dissapointed in MTR.

The post WAS removed after all, and every effort was made to ensure that his points were recognised and discussed.

Anyway, it is his right to leave the site and use any site he wishes (of course), but removing all the information he has posted which other people might find useful seems a little selfish.

I'm so glad I took this on!! It's so easy!

regards

Simon

Is it me, the BBS or MTR deleting all the MTR text?

Just tried to read the mudflap info, whilst it sounds interesting there is no text describing it!

It's the answer to the question "Webmaster, how do I stop my children reading MTR's posts?"....

Hi All

I haven't looked into this, but would like to make it clear that the posts have not been deleted by me or the moderators.

Maybe MTR can enlighten us?

Oh dear.

He didn't get his way (although it seems the level of censorship is still under discussion) and therefore the teddy bear, blanket and dummy have gone out of the pram and he's taking his ball home as well.

His editing has now killed a number of useful topics dead.

Anyway, I bet John F is well upset by this!

Chris.

We could look at how long it would take to dig the posts out of the back-ups?

Cheers

I'd be interested in seeing the mudflap thread, from memory it had quite detailed instuctions on how to fabricate P1 WR style mudflaps/guards as seen in this month's EVO mag.

MTR can do what he wants but I'll miss the technical knowhow that his kids, Stef and Anders, have shared with us over the years

Seriously, though, it really p1sses me off that he expects this site to be "family friendly". This is a pretty civilised place, compared to a lot of the internet, and to a lot of "real life" places, and kids could learn quite a bit here about how lots of different people with different views but a common interest can (generally speaking) get on and co-operate together and how a virtual community works.

Actually, his response to Stef's apology is still there if you want to see his words.
I feel sorry for the 25% who voted with him.

PeteT,

I have a pair of MTR's prototype protectors which I am about to fit to my car, which he brought round to my house and posted through next door's letterbox.

All I did was mention on his thread that I was suffering similar deterioration, and without further ado he took the time out to bring them. (Although I suspect he enjoyed putting his foot down over the tops on the way!!)

There are people I've known for a lot longer who wouldn't have been bothered to do that.

I must admit, I had never considered whether this was a family friendly site or not, but I have never expected to be bombarded with **** links or Spam etc. from using this BBS, which has in my experience been generally clean and good natured.

I missed the "offending" item and I have no desire to see it or anything similar.

Shortly after I left school a very attractive female cousin of a school friend was ejected from a motor bike in an accident wearing an open face helmet. Her face took the full braking deceleration on contact with the tarmac.

That's enough for me to imagine. She survived the accident but is sadly now no longer with us. I didn't think anybody still used open face helmets on motor bikes anymore. In fact I didn't even think they still made them.

MTR posts with a passion, as does Stef. Golly, sometimes so do I.

After all "you live and learn".

Cool

Webmaster,

If MTR has chosen to edit out all his "contribution" to the BBS, surely that is his right? I don't believe that restoring his posts from a backup is necessarily the best idea.

In the quite likely event of him continuing to view the BBS, just to check on how much his leaving has upset us all, I suspect he would be most annoyed to see his editing work undone. If he really thinks that removing his posts is making a reasonable point, and not just being selfish and spiteful, then I believe we should leave them as he wants and let the other BBS members make up their own minds.

Moray calls it right, MTR would probably claim copyright if you insisted on putting the posts back.

but, if anyone happens to have tha pages cached, they could post some edited highlights of the useful posts....

MTR removing his posts is regrettable if that is what has occurred.

ChrisB is suggesting that I didn’t particularly like MTR, that’s not quite correct.

What I didn’t appreciate was the use of my good name ( yeh, right ) in his posts when he wanted to make a negative point. I didn’t see why that was necessary.
I also found his demanding answers style rather irritating, unlike most people on this board who ask for assistance, he demanded answers. Not a very pleasant approach.

As to my style of answering his demands, I was quite direct and didn’t ***** foot around, that’s probably because I am a northern git who doesn’t have the time to be eloquent. He should understand that because he is a northern git too.

He seems to have gone ever so slightly overboard on this censorship issue, because he didn’t get his way. He seems to have decided to deprive the users of this BBS from some very useful information. That’s such a great pity as its totally selfish and isn’t in the spirit of this BBS at all.

Sorry Blow, we weren't paying attention.

The answer is 1.4, but I need to now your question before I can confirm this with absolute certainty.

I'm sorry, but this bat & ball taking/teddy throwing is pathetic IMO. Don't waste bandwidth with further discussion. If he wants to go all immature and cry home to mummy, just let him, and get on with our lives. The place will be better without his demands!

I'd rather have 'adult' content than immature behaviour.

Throw me a friggin bone, please. Could someone explain to me the mindset whereby, for the sake of installing a piece of software that costs $39, someone is prepared to stop posting on this BBS.
If his son really did read this BBS, is he suddenly going to stop because Daddy deleted his posts? If yes, then why didn't MTR just print them off so that his son could read them in paper format, and not have to go anywhere near this morally corrupting BBS on an otherwise snow white internet. Weird.

It's amazing the state some people get into just because they can't get a simple piece of software to work.
My mates 11 year old kid knows how to de-install 'Net Nanny' in minutes and get it back on again before Dad find's out.

Simon De Banke,
As I stated in one of my responses in the unsuitable images thread, I would go along with any level of censorship you chose to adopt for this site.

I have not removed my threads because of any disagreement with the moderators or Simon on the way this site should be run, as I believe they do a good job.

The responses to my thread from Stef and yourself were both courteous, even if you did/didn't agree with the point I was making,
and I appreciate that.

Please do not reinstate my posts.

Gregh I can show you the Mudflaps on NM4

Cheers MTR
