top Gear (or maybe one of the Clarkson vids) a while back were comapring new for old, and ran I think an Evo 3/4 against an 8, through some cones. There was only a split second in, probably due to the weight increase.
Be good to see the same with an early RA vs STI 8

My father had a Colt Lancer Turbo when they first came out in about 1981, it was the fastest four door production car for a good while.....

it was the fastest back in the 80s but surely a modern turbo 4wd car should out handle and perform a relic if not then why dont we all drive old cars.
i dont supose anybody nows who owns the lancer in question

after reading the thread on the mlr i kind of feel sorry for the owner of the old lancer as everybody with a fast car will whant to try and race him.

I have chased a few scoobies in the wet with my old BMW 325iX, won a few lost a few. Old cars rock...the look on there faces as you dust them is a picture. Very rarely used now but when I do..look out, as that BMW 4wd system is unreal in the rain or snow

There are a few subaru brumby's (old ute's circa 83') with sti running gear around here in aus that would spank a number rex's old generally means light...you cant argue with power to weight.

Here They pitch up a bunch of scoobs and evos together on the track (scooby vs EVO one).
It's the order at the end is, if I remember rightly. STI7 Spec C wins, EVO 7RS next 3rd, 4th and 5th (can't remember the order) STI3,STI7 and EVO7. 6th a good way back was an EVO5 and last by a massive margin was the EVO2.
The EVO 2 driver did say he had more fun than anyone else though.
The STI3 and 7, and the evo 5 were lightly tuned.
Good Videos, well worth watching
