I seem to be going through metal valve caps at an alarming rate these days. Loose at least 1 per week. Bought some spares to keep in the car as replacements, only a couple of quid from Halfrauds. Would not insult the old girl by putting plastic caps on her!
Rather valve caps than screwdrivers being used to remove badges like in the old days.

Why do people change their valve caps for shiney ones?
Is there any benefit at all?
I hear there are lockable ones - I mean, who in their right mind would steal air from your tyres?

I had mine stolen from the car at Santa Pod earlier in the year, they weren't even shiney. It's just such a pointless crime.

Hi,
You can buy caps with a grub screw, like the ones on gear *****. Doubt the kids with have a screw driver that fits.
IMHO I wouldnt bother with shinny caps etc, not only do they look cheap (IMHO of course) but they just attract unwanted attention thus get nicked fact.

I've also suffered - one set of shiny screw on, and 2 with a 'locking' grub screw now decorating some Chavs chopper bike!! Finally found the answer - Richbrook do some with a spinning outer layer that needs a key tool to take off. Not cheap but hopefully the last set I'll buy (PS - can be found on E-bay for about £12)

You get used to it mate.
Some sad to$$er has nicked the cheap black plastic caps off mine. God knows why! My money is on the pikey chavs that have moved into our courtyard
Leave your gob open long enough in Kidderminster and they'll nick the teeth out of your head!

I too have lost sorry had my valve caps stolen off my scooby each time I have had two stolen both on the same side. My last set are made up from the two valves left the first time and the other two from the second time. Though I'm sure they will probably disappear soon.

Spin caps are identical to the Richbrook ones I bought. They are pretty good and can commend them. The only way to remove them without trashing them is with the removal key so I'm hoping they are pretty chav proof!!

Iv'e had a few odd ones here an there, iv'e even been sitting in the car waiting outside my lads primary school, and one little 7year old chavette tried nickin on of the n/s/f wheel. I blasted the horn - she sh*t it and run.
I don't bother with those mucho expensive spin caps or ones with the grub screw (might chew the tread on valve) Just use shiny alloy ones with a touch of copperslip applied with a small brush to the inside of the cap, or outside the valve.
I then give em a good old tighten with an 11mm socket on a 1/4" driver handle, or nutspinner of same size.
Very rarely i loose a cap now, but remember to keep the spinner in the car, they are pretty tight imho.
Cheers

I had mine nicked of my GT6
i was fuming mad. kid came round looking at the cars, so I went out and looked at his valve caps
"nice car mister!"
"nice valve cap, wheres the rest of them"
"what do you mean?"

"now get the rest of them for me now"
kid rides of and gets another, and then i go round some kids house and get the other 2 from their dad who came out all mean looking until he saw I had the other 2 and am a big *******.
