2002 WRX VS Mini Copper S / Works
As per the subject.
How would my 2002 wrx fare against a mini cooper s / cooper s works from a standing start?

IMHO a WRX would be much quicker from a standing start than a Cooper S, at least 1.8 seconds to 60mph (Cooper S 0-60mph 7.7) the gap would only get bigger from here upwards
and a good second quicker than a Cooper S works.
Even a recently tested BBR 300bhp Cooper S Turbo could only hit 60mph in 5.9s

300BHP in a mini! Traction must be a serious issue!
I was only wondering because last night someone was asking if my car was quicker than a cooper s. I said it probably would be but not by much.
A friend of mine has one, I havent had a play with it yet but seemingly his cooper s is putting out around 240bhp (its been modded) which would make his power to weight ratio better than mine.
Mods wise my car isnt standard tho, i've got a downpipe back exhaust, free flow panel filter & dv and it was running at 239bhp ish before I had the centre cat removed. So should be a bit more than that now. However I must admit I dont fancy the thought of getting beaten by a mini.
What is a cooper s works power output?

I know the BBR mini (300bhp) will hit 140mph in just over 30seconds. Now thats pretty quick in my book
I would have thought even a 240bhp Cooper S is unlikely to be as quick as a Scooby off the mark, especially on a wet road !

Mini Cooper S works will do a 15 sec 1/4 mile at circa 100mph. The standard car will touch around 16 seconds. From what i have seen WRX's can inch into the 14's but anyone who has watched 1/4 mile racing will note that a couple of points of a second may be 1-2 metres. So i think a Cooper S works will easily keep with a WRX from standing - and even around dry bends on 16" alloys - maybe 17's.

Im from near York. A friend of mine on his ZX6R saw a mini (new shape cooper s) getting close to his back end, came to a junction (this is in the middle of no where) and nailed it off in 1st etc... through gears to 140mph. He looks round the minis still on his ****!! The mini then pulls out to overtake. My friend decided to back off at this point. We hear rumours theres a compound charged one lurking around.....
