Car Washing Tips and DEFI Fitters
I've just purchased a silver 03 STI. And it's getting a bit dirty, so I was wondering, what is the best way to wash the car. Will it go through a car wash? I'm assuming the rear spoiler may cause a problem with this.
Also does anyone have any recommendations for people who can fit Defi Dails to the west of London, Berkshire Way?
Many thanks

Usually, (and I maybe wrong on this one) a bucket of water with some so called 'car shampoo' and an incredible invention called, 'a sponge', is the prefered method by the majority of car enthusiasts everywhere!
Seriously though, if you'd like the paint work of your scoob (or any car for that matter) to stay in good condition, i.e. no scratches or swirl marks, then please don't use a garage car wash. This will cost you a fiver and chuck in scratches for free. A bucket of water, decent car shampoo, sponge and a shamy will cost abit more in the short term but, will last 20 - 30 washes, and won't leave any nasty marks. (unless you drop the sponge and carry on using it!)

Not too sure, but I think I would use water, maybe put it in a bucket and possibly add some kind of foaming liquid. Normally I guess I'd use a sponge, but after reading here that it traps dirt that may scratch my car ?? Can someone confirm water is OK? I know there are chemicals in water, can they harm my paint in any way?

Would never stick my car threw a car wash cos of 1) the paint, and 2) I would sh1te myself thinking the rear wing would be ripped off.
I use a rotary car wash. Nothing touches the paintwork other than foam & high pressure water.
I used to use a car wash when I had my clio 172 (silver) I was sat behind a Corsa when he went through, but he left his arial in. His girlfriend realised, so mid wash he jumped out to take his arial off. Drowned rat sprang to mind.
Another funny story was my dad in his off roader. Stuck it through a car wash with the arial up. It ripped the arial off, that wrapped itself around the brushes, then proceeded to rip the brush off it's hinge. It then bounced up & down off his car. He played hell with the assistant to distract the fact his arial was the cause of it all, and as she was flustered, he got in his car & tuck off. She obviously never got his number plate & he's never been back. When he told me, I'd never laughted so much before in my life............... Pillock

1/ wash the thing off with Mer shampoo
2/ rince it off then clean and polish the wheels. With mer stuff
3/ Take a bucket 2 Pints of warm water and put in 3 caps of mer polish sponge this over the car and rince it off shammy off. I do this twice a week and my paintwork is smooth as a babys **** and shines like a good one in this weather..
Trust me try it you wont be dissapointed...
