No, this is not normal.
I have to park my scoob on a busy london road, and can't reach it with a hose.
If you're lucky enough to have a driveway or a garage, then it would make life easier I guess ....

I haven't heard of this before - does putting polish in warm water and sponging onto the car work? - (obviously shammying off after)

I give her a thorough wash, wax and hoover every couple of weeks, but there is no point in twice a week surely? I like to enjoy my car and have a thorough blatt around the countryside. If car is immaculate you don't want to get any dirt on it, never mind let it get rained on. Twice a week is bizarre.

All cars should be kept clean at all times.

People who keep their cars proper dirty, probably keep their houses that way to. (unlesss work on building sites or have pretty good excusses for their cars seeing extreme dirt every day) Well from experience i have noticed that.

Its best to keep both property and cars clean and spanking at all times

I have 4 cars and my missus has 1, thats 5 cars and i clean them all every weekend so that they are always stunning. lol.

It takes some time mind cleaning 5 cars inside and out and waxing, and some weekend mornings it does feel a chore. But its worth it when driving a car with a nice tidy clean interior and no litter or dirt anywhere. Feels better

I live on the third floor so washing really isn't that convenient. If I had a drive I'd wash at least once a week

Interior hoovered & dash once over once per week
Wax .. depends on time but FULL autoglym treatment taking 3 hours easiliy...

Daily car that treats me well so I look after her.

Gave my car a wash a week after I got it.
Then 2 weeks(last week) later I gave the full meguires treatmeant.
That took 5 hrs and 2 hrs later I buggered off to Aberdeen for the week to work.
Came home to a dusty car. Washed it off and went over it with a shammy today and looks every bit as good as it did last weekend
I plan on probably washing once a fortnight or maybe weekly depending on work schedule as I work away from home 99% of the time.
Will probably give the full meguires once every 2 months

Wash mine every other weekend, dont shammy it though. Wait for it to dry then wax it with meguires. Inside gets hoovered to within an inch of its life, having said that it doesn't get dirty, as i only do around 100 miles a week.

Um, mine gets cleaned every so often. Then again, I bought it to drive it, not clean it

Cool Confessions of a dirty chariot owner

Both mine and the wife's cars are, as you say, "mingin dirty."

I have both cars on the driveway, and a hosepipe I could use. I also have a box full of car cleaning fluids in the garage (most of items in there have been there for at least 5 years). The car looks great after it's serviced as they give them a cleanup, but I simply
  1. Don't have the time to do it properly (wife and two young kids, though I was just as bad with previous sporty cars before any of them arrived). Badly washed cars look worse than dirty ones IMHO.
  2. Cannot be arsed - have far more fun or pressing things to do
  3. Dirt covers the imperfections. Every time the car is ever cleaned I get upset about some other scratch or ding that some tosser has put into the vehicle at some point.
The cars work just fine and I treat them to a jetwash every 6 months or so if there's no service coming up. I probably clean the wheels every 3 months. In the same vein, my garden lawn is mostly weeds and I don't really care enough to spend the time sorting it properly, and it is mown occasionally with me grumbling to myself. It's still (mostly) green and the kids wreck it anyway .

Oh - GSleigh's analogy about my house being dirty because I don't clean my car is complete ballcocks (and that's as a desk jockey with no excuse of working on a building site). My house is clean and tidy .

Enjoy your buffing, boys

Stuff cleaning it'll only get dirty again, i would rather be out driving than cleaning.

tip - get dark grey car = hides the dirt (not sure about the mud tho )

Actually i do wash it now and again but thats only when i want it to rain (so i dont have to water the garden)

No word of a lie last 4 times i washed (flash thingy really good btw) it rained!

CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS, thats what they tell me.

If you love it you will keep it clean, if you're not bothered about it lookin sh*t buy a sh*t car. In my humble but godly opinion!

Mine gets washed at each service, (if I have the time to wait for it) and when it rains hard.

Strange, I wash my car once a month. Everytime the bucket and sponge goes away its ' Hey Presto' ands its piddling down.

BTW I only wash the car once a month as my works car park is like a bloody dust bowl in summer and like a swamp in winter, so it seems pretty pointless. Besides, I cant see the outside of the car when Im driving it, so it dosent realy bother me!
If ,however, anyone should be too worried about this, please PM me and you can come round and wash my car whenever you like, I'll even make you a cup of Tea!
