Default New UK? PPP? Scoob £14800 feckin ell!!!

My mate has been badgering me for a couple of weeks since he took my motor out for a spin about scoobs, his deal finding ability is good, however nothing prepared me for this yesterday.

Ring Ring - Hello
I'm buying an impreza
Q Oh yes, which one
A Dunno the tecnhical details, but its new and £14800
Q Ah, that'll be a WRX then - where is it imported from?
A Its in a main dealer showroom
Q Are you sure?
A Yep, too right I am looking at the picture on the internet now.
Q Are you sure it is a subaru UK dealer and not an import?
A Yes, it says UK model, free servicing + free PPP
Q And its definately £14800, and doesnt say UK Spec?
A Yes, as honest as I'm talking to you now it is a legit UK new un registered car, do you think I should buy it?
A Erm, if that is true yes, but somehow the price is just too low - be warned.

Thing was, by the time I recovered and rang him back to ask him what website/dealer this was he had logged off t'internet and i've not heard back from him since.

Any comments? Anyone seen this deal or anything similar?

I have personally not seen it, dont know the dealer and cannot believe it can be anything other than an import - however you cant get PPP on an import so that bit rings true.

If it is correct this has to be deal of the decade.

£14800 is even cheaper than what Motorpoint are doing them at the moment.

Sounds like a pile of tosh. Free PPP AND Servicing too? I don't think so. One or the other might be offered at the moment, but not both.

I have my doubts - lots of them infact which is why I asked whether anyone had come across this type of deal before. I respect what others have said, and maybe this deal is extreme, but I would be careful before rubbishing it - as you may find that before too long these deals are the norm for the remainder of the year - Remember the Impreza at cost price thread a little while back?

I've still not spoken to him, so not much mileage in me posting again until I have - however other than having driven mine, he has not got a clue about scoobies, example, when I asked him if they were selling STIs on the site, he said "what is one of them - is it faster?".

If it were someone in the know I would be doubtful, however if he is pulling my pisser on this he is doing a good job as he read to me directly off the website PPP+Servicing, UK vehicle £14800 unregistered and does not know enough about scoobies to throw me a convincing blag.

Cant be any clearer than that.

Does this include the VAT? I cannot see this price for a new one as it's certainly less than a dealer has paid Subaru for it, so why would a dealer make a loss? But if it does not include VAT, then you're talking £17,390. which although also very cheap could be more likely if a dealer has too many of them sitting around. But I would have thought dealers would wait until the MY06 orders are being properly taken and I cannot see this happening until the end of the year, so why would he sell them off cheap now?

Like mightyyid said, there maybe too many left at the dealers and they're trying to get rid of some sharpish to make way for the my06??

If it sounds too good to be true... 9/10 times it is too good to be true

Beats a Clio at that price
