Your going to be pushing it with a 55 plate JDM car at 25k, probably more like 28-30k.
www.wickedkit.com have an MY05 JDM car in, v low miles, may just be in your budget, but also budget for knocklink and sensor, security/tracker.

Oh i should also say, if you go JDM, the RE070's dont come in 235/45/17's over here and tbh i wouldnt swap them for anything else, they are extremely good tyres (on my second set now )

My advice is to buy the Jap spec STi because all that will happen if you buy a UK STi is you will spend money on it trying to get a few more bhp to make it the same power as the jap spec!
As you have come from a JDM version 6 you may well find the UK STi a bit on the sluggish side.
£25k will buy you a beauty or you could get a 2nd hand one similar to this http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=442012 and save the rest for a rainy day.

I think you need to drive a UK and JDM back to back, and then decide whether a slightly older but mod'd car (for example, an 03 JDM with Type 20 conversion) would be worth considering. You're ready, willing and able to buy, so the place to be is at the dealers trying the things out to see if they suit you and your expectations. Our opinions may help, but YOU need to decide, and the only way to do that is to sample the goods. Litcho usually has a UK car in (or can lay his hands on one) and obviously has the JDM stuff. The T20/25's I think tend to be done to order, but again, I would think he can get one to try.
Go on, have some fun

Chris,
Tiley's in Bristol have a new Black STi Type UK demonstrator. Its been 'tweaked' and would be worth going down that way for a test drive - I was very impressed (thanks Dan) but then I drive a std bugeye WRX so am quite impressed by the local No48 bus . However as I've said before Chris, as a cash buyer you are in strong position take your time, push hard and try to soften the depreciation curve up front by obtaining a new car at a criminally low price. The attraction of a JDM variant may well be their exclusivity which might hold the price up a bit better.

Oh Chris, if you can, get along to Rallyday and meet fellow members of Scobbyzone, SIDC and of course Scoobynet for a chat and look at the various versions available - ultimately Corroda boy has the nail on the head - try everything and then decide.

Scooby meets are always friendly, no matter what you arrive in. I used to turn up in my Corrado, and at our last meet there was a Noble and a Lambo Murcielago (I'm sure one day they'll be able to get a Scoob and often a Ferarri 360 CS).

Am I the only person on here who wouldn't touch a JDM vehicle with a barge pole?
If like me,you only live a short distance away from a Subaru dealer but at least a 3 day camel ride away from the nearest so-called specialist!
Then a UK car makes complete sense
My 'lowly' Type UK,is geared for our roads, the suspension is suited to our roads,it won't rust, won't go bangis a more than adequate car for everyday driving, has 300bhp(alledgedly)and a 3 year warrenty.
I thankyou,Jon

But if you do want to spend the cash, then JDM mate. Better car plus easier to sell if you wan't any proof check the for sale sections and see how hard it is to shift a UK classic compared to a JDM STI!
That's why i'll keep my UK until the day she dies ;-)

As for Cat1 Alarms and Trackers; my experience says that they come as standard on neww cars, but remember whilst the Tracker is fitted by Litchfields, you then have to pay RAC for it to be monitored ... c£100pa if I remember correctly.
