Default Number plate swapping

Need to transfer my private plate to another car I am buying, and put a DVLA registration number on my car which I am selling.

Does my car get it's original Y reg plate back on?

Anyone know and how much this costs for both cars

Thanks

Its £80 to swap a private plate from one car to another, yes your old car will get a y plate but not necessarily its original number.

quickest way will be to visit a DVLA centre and takes around a week for you to get the paperwork back through.... of the two cars that i and the other half have changed in the last year neither had the original plate returned to it.....

I got my original Y plate back when I took the private one off. Which was good as we still had the plates. I did it all by post, took about two weeks.

So

If I am buying a new car tommorrow,I would normally expect to pick it up in 3-5 days after agreeing/signing.

Will this delay or can I drive the new car away with its original plate on whilst awaiting the neccessary,of course the dealer will have my car I have p/xd to them with my PP on and I take he will not be able to sell it on until all paperwork complete.
