Murco Super Unleaded in Widnes
A new Murco garage has opened up, here in Widnes.
It has for sale "High Octane Super Unleaded Petrol" but no indication of the octane rating, till man did not know either.
No mention on Murco web site for it either, in fact no mention of the petrol station!.
I have tried it in my MY96 JDM Wagon and to be honest, it seems to run better and certainly gives the power high up, don't have a knock link, but no unusual noises from the engine, which I think now sounds better higher up the rev range.
Anyone else heard of this fuel?

Update on Murco Super Unleaded Fuel
I have received this reply from Murco.
Hi Graham,
Octane rating of our Super unleaded fuel is 97.0 RON minimum and 86.0 MON minimum.
Unfortunately this will not meet your requirements for your Impreza if you wish to use its full performance potential.
Alternatively you could turn down the boost and limit your accelerator movement to 75% of max ! Not what you wanted to hear I'm afraid, however it is a problem with manufacturers going this route to develop engine power and torque.
A quick question, are you sure that it is additional RON you require ?
More RON is required if there is a pre ignition problem at low engine speed and full throttle opening, whilst more MON is required if pre ignition (knocking/pinking etc) occurs at part throttle at both low and high engine speeds and full throttle with high engine speed ? There are additives available which may help you if you know precisely the operating conditions where the pre ignition occurs.
Best Regards

Just re-read it - didn't see the MON, thought it said RON! Another question then - what the hell is MON???
