Unhappy Help needed Urgently - Lost Key Fob

Can anyone tell me the best course of action?

I have lost (it broke off my keyring somehow) my only key fob for the alarm/immobilser on my MY99 UK impreza, it was the standard alarm fob and i dont have the code for the keypad. I have the key still.

How do i go about getting a replacement fob or/and find out the code.

Any idea of time and cost of getting replacements as i need to use the car on Monday afternoon

Someone please help!

James

As I understand it, as long as you have the actual key, you can go into the Subaru dealer and they can reprogram the keypad to a code of your choice.

I got locked down by an antenna which blocked my keyfob and hadn't even been told about the keypad when I bought the car. Eventually got it started and the bloke at the dealers just reprogrammed the code on the alarm, so now when the battery goes flat I can disable the alarm with the keypad.

As for replacing the fob, get out the cheque book...

Any sigma dealer should be able to help or just ask your local subaru dealer who they use.
Failing all elsa - get a mobile alarm company in to rip out the old alarm and fit a new one.

The fobs only cost about £35 from subaru dealer but to program it you need the pin and the system to be in the unarmed state and without the pin you cannot turn it off it also needs to be unarmed to reprogram a new pin in the case of a forgotten pin code.

look for a small silver sticker in the manual holder with the pin on it. However, the previous owner may have changed the pin (I have) but unlikely i think.

Hi all, it turns out subaru uk should have a record of the code so have to fax them tomorrow with proof of ownership, at least i should be able to start the car then.

As for the Fob, what sort of alarm was standard fit on the UK MY99? Is know its a Sigma but what sort? Does anyone know the procedure for partnering new fobs to the alarm? (seen a couple of new fobs on ebay quite cheap)

Cheers

J

Its a Sigma M30:
Programming Remote Keys to the System:

Remote keys can be added or removed to/from the system following the sequence below:
i) Type in to the keypad **
ii) Type in to the keypad the “existing PIN code” then *
iii) Type in to the keypad 91 * “ the number of keys to be used” #
iv) Press the first remote key button until bleep sounds, release and press next key. Continue until all keys have been taught to the system. Note the maximum number of keys is 4 and all keys required to operate the system must be taught during this operation - any key not included will no longer operate the system.

Ive just done mine. The car must be un-alarmed to do this, but the ignition doesnt need to be on.

For those of you interested here is what you have to do if you are as stupid as me

Phone Original Supplying Dealer
Give Dealer Reg/Vin
Ask them to contact IM (Lynn Parry)
They Fax Lynn
Dealer gets Pin
Dealer Calls you and tells you pin
Buy replacement Fob
Code Fob to your alarm

Cheers

How do you reset the keypad code?

Got both of the key fobs but was never given the code to the keypad.

Is there a way of resetting it without dragging the car of to a dealer?

Provided that you can disarm the system with a working Radio Key or the current PIN, then you can re-set the 4-digit PIN to one of your own choosing yourself, using the keypad, at any time.

If you do not have the current PIN, then option A is your best solution. However if you do not have a working Radio Key, then you will have to use option B and obtain the systems PIN code from Subaru (UK). Your dealer can obtain this for you if you can provide proof of ownership and the alarm systems 16-digit serial number.

A. Using a working Radio Key:
- Arm and then Disarm the system using a working Radio Key.
- Within 30 seconds of disarming, type into the keypad- *17856*92*wxyz*wxyz# (where wxyz is your new PIN code)
- Arm the system with the Radio Key
- You should now be able to disarm the system using the new PIN code

B. Using the current PIN Code (if a working Radio Key is not available):
- Arm and then Disarm the system using the current PIN
- Within 30 seconds of disarming, type into the keypad- **abcd*92*wxyz*wxyz# (where abcd is your current PIN code and wxyz your new PIN code)
- You should now be able to arm and disarm the system using the new PIN code

Instructions on doing this can be found in the security systems Operating Instructions. If you do not have these, a link to a copy can be found in the post at::
http://www.subaru-impreza.org/subarutalk/viewtopic.php?t=2476

When using the keypad always observe the following points:
- The PIN number should not be entered too quickly or too slowly - when a digit has been pressed the small LED built into the keypad will illuminate briefly as confirmation and only then should the next digit be entered.
- If an incorrect digit is pressed or the delay between entering digits exceeds10 seconds, then the LED above the keypad will flash rapidly and the PIN attempt should be abborted and started again after 30 seconds.
- Due to the small size of the keypad some users may find a rubber tipped pencil easier to use. DO NOT use the sharp tip of a ball point pen etc, or press excessively hard on the keypad as this will only damage the membrane and cause a digit to remain pressed, causing a continual incorrect PIN.

- The keypad allows only THREE PIN attempts and then will "Lock Up" if an incorrect number is entered a third time. This is a security feature to prevent random PIN attempts disarming the system.

Hope this helps.
