Rebuild might cost you £2.5k. Dont know what RAs go for these days, but depending on mileage maybe somewhere up to £10k???

Cool

He said the third piston has gone with the big end also. It has the tougher trans in to cope with the extra ponies. He wants to recouperate most of the £13,000. My dad bought a 2000 v reg type r completly standard for less than that and only done 30,000 miles. His engine wan't run in ( 3,500 miles ) and he spent £6,000 fitting it after someone else removed the sump plug.

I was thinking of £ 8,5 - 9k OTT. I think the guy selling the car don't realise the value.

The guys wants between £5 and £6 k for his car. He also spent a little over £3,000 for other extras: ap racing clutch £900, exhaust £700 and £1,500 for a gems system ( not got a clue this system ).

All done and dusted, with either a rebuild by someone reputable (API etc), or a new bottom end, its probs worth £8k.

Maybe a touch more if its an STi Type RA, but from what you've said it doen't sound like it.

The mods don't necessarily add too much value to it, and can sometimes scare people off.

£5k is probs about what its worth, but you need to decide if you really need the agro as there are some cheap well specced cars around at the mo.

i have been looking for a 4 door for a friend and that price seems high, especially as it is a massive buyers market at the momment. there are loads about on here, on auto trader, everywhere you look.
