Default PPP upgrade

Is it worth putting a PPP on a my52 wrx with 32k on the clock or would it be the beginning of the end for my engine

I had mine fitted at 20k miles. There is no risk to the engine as the map and components are well within the safety limits of the engine. Having said that, a 52 plate will have run out of warranty, so you may want to look at other (cheaper) options if you want more power, unless you've taken out an extended warranty.
