Chipsaway and the like...
has anyone had a job done by these people??
If so what has the job been like after 12 months??
Has the paint gone flat, are you able to tell where the job has been done, or is it as good as the day it was done???
I have been told that the paint 'sinks' after time and the only way to get a decent job is to have the whole panel sprayed, even though they are only tiny stone chips on the door.
Can any Chipsaway people answer this??
Any constructive comments would be greatly appreciated

I bought an 04STI in silver that had previously had a tiny repair carried out by Chipsaway or similar.
Looked great when I bought it, but within a few months flecks started appearing in the paint.
As a result I needed to have it redone by a decent paint shop.
In order to recyify the fault a much larger area needed to be resprayed, at quite a cost.
From my experience, these quick repairs are false economy, and I would reccomend going to a reputable spray shop in the first instance.
Maybe I was unlucky, but take care!

A few I've had done still look great ie undetectable to me after 18 months ish. The problem is that the quality varies alot as almost anybody can set up a Chipsaway franchise and get the training. Some people will be dedicated craftsmen who have been in the bodywork trade for years. Some will be total newbies that fancy doing something different. So best to go somewhere off personal recommendation. I have seen some that don't look great even at the beginning.
Don't listen to what the paint shops tell you as they are in direct competition and have to justify their higher costs. I have also seen plenty of resprayed pannels that look crap, again it depends on who is going the work.

I've used Chipsaway a few times on blue and silver. Never had a problem with them - result looked good. But as others have said it does depend on who you get.
Ian
PS - If you get it done in Southport/Preston you'll have to speak up a bit - the bloke's a bit deaf.
