Default Is PPP worth it ? Updated.

As the title asks:

I`ve recently(ish) bought a new WRX, and wondered if it would be worth having PPP fitted ?

I`m enjoying the power as-is at the moment, never having had a Scoob before, but I`m considering perhaps getting it PPP`d at the 10k service.

I believe the power-hike is around 40 BHP, which sounds good, but will it make a big enough difference to justify the extra £1600 ?

Thanks,in anticipation.............

Absolutely it's the only Mod that will retain your Warranty OK may not be the biggest Bang per Buck but safe in all respects. IMHO

Enjoy

Tony

Ps better to get done sooner than later you can justify the cost over 3years if it was 21/2year old Car then other options would be Better VFM

Thumbs up

As T5NYW says, and as soon as you can get it fitted to maximise your smiles

Check your insurance implications first though

Put Approx £250.00 on my insurance, I can actually insure a WR1 cheaper.... So be careful, (My05 WRX SL PPP)

Is it worth it????? I would say yes, but after 6 months I am now wanting a bit more and thinking sod the warranttee so it could all be a waste of money.

I would now say, that if you don't mind losing your warrantte other options give better value for money.

edited to say, If your going to go for it get it done ASAP, you will want the Prodrive springs and Quickshift at the 10K service.............

I've got an MY04 WRX with PPP. Had a classic before that at one point was over 300bhp. I can honestly say that the WRX out performs the Classic I had by a country mile. Third gear is a stormer! I can even overtake the odd bike on the Cat and Fiddle!

Get it done, keep the warranty and enjoy.

If the warranty has ended you may want to consider a TEK3 instead. Do a search you'll find loads of stuff about it

Your 1400+Kg 265bhp MY04 out performs your old 1200Kg 300bhp classic by a country mile? Is it just me or does that not sound right.

PPP is well worth it just for the noise alone!, my new wagon sounds absolutely amazing, then there is the power - the roar turns thunderous when you get to 3000 revs and the difference is massivley noticeable!

BUY BUY BUY.....

That's to say nothing of the fact that, owing to the better insulation etc... the new age cars tend to feel subjectively slower than a classic in equivalent tune even though there may be no objective difference.

Do you lot think that there is any point putting PPP on an engine with about 65K on it?
Cant afford to do it at the mo, but it is definately something that is in the back of my mind.

How much would PPP cost for a MY99 uk model, and can i get it done at my local scooby dealer?

Thanks in advance
Rick

Guess your warranty has lapsed? No way, for nearly 2k you can do a hell of a lot more to your scoob than a PPP, even just exhaust and tek3 will (for around a 1k) give you aprx 30-40 bhp more than PPP.

Rick,

Is your Car under Subaru Warranty? if not, not really worth fitting PPP. The whole piont of PPP is to retain the Warranty

You can pick up second hand(£400 ish) ECU, intercooler Pipe and back box. PPP is a "Conservitive" performance Mod so relatively "Safe"

But probably just better to go and get it EcuTEK 3 around £650 IMHO

mine had one fitted when i bough it. but still id say get one. ignore the peak bhp figures that get banded around, the ppp has a good increase in torque across the whole rpm range which is where you'll be driving it.

Dexter,

I was wondering how long it take you to start thinking about this!

I'll echo everyone else here.....get it.

One thing you WILL notice is the noise...after all these months I still dribble around with the window open a tad to listen to that famous burble...

Wakey, hello there from across the way (you know where I mean ). Thanks for the reply, and to everyone else also.

Looks as if I`m gonna have to go and get the PPP done.

I`ll let you know

Oh, and Wakey, don`t care what everyone "across the way" thinks, they do not have the knowledge, and have not yet seen the light. You were right, the Scoob is miles better. Say no more.

Thanks for the replies, hope i havent hijacked the thread!!!

My car is still under warranty but its all to do with the readies-or lack of them, thats what will determine when (if) i get the PPP.

The other problem is i have just discovered digital slr photography--have you seen the price of the lenses.....omg!!!

I posted a thread about this the other day as I was asking the same question but with a PPP for the STi. Well I finally got to be able to take a PPP'd one for a test drive. Wasn't that noticeable a difference while I was driving the car, or so I thought. It was only when I got back in my car that I noticed the power difference. My car was suddenly lacking.
My summary therefore is that you don't notice the upgrade too much,... until it's gone. Plus the noise it makes is pretty cool

Thought I`d update this thread, after all the replies I got (thanks again BTW).

Anyway, it`s only taken me 2 months to decide whether to PPP, or mod-independently, and I`ve decided to.....................PPP

So it`s booked in for either this Friday, or next Tuesday, depending on the arrival of the kit from the factory, and I should finally be able to answer my own question.

I`ll let you know................
