Default servicing intervals and costs

What are the service intervals on a 2001 MY UK WRX and what are the associated costs.

Thanks.

Martin.

If it's a UK supplied car then it should be 10k/12 months, or 7.5k for an EU import. There are lots of EU cars from around that time, as the €/£ rate was very favourable giving IRO £5k savings. Prices vary, but a main dealer 20k would be IRO £180+vat, 30k IRO £450+vat. As the car is out of warranty by now you should really consider having an independent specialist do the work. They're usually much better at the job and cost much less. I favour www.scoobyclinic.com in Chesterfield, TSL in Nottingham, Prosport in the Liverpool area, Powerstation in the Bristol area. There are plenty, so it's best asking in the regional forum which best suits you.

I have a Standard UK MY01 WRX Bugeye.

40,000 mile service = £260 inc. VAT

50,000 mile service = £381 inc. VAT
(Cambelt but I supplied the oil-Silkolene ProS 5W40 Fully-Synthetic)

Above done at Bulldog Twyford: main dealer.

I am toying with idea of having an interim oil/filter change at 55,000. I think 10,000 mile interval is too long for a performance car.

One way to cut cost is to supply your own oil - dealers should be happy to let you do this. I estimate that you save about £30 if you are specifying fully-synthetic - the dealer mark up plus VAT really shoves on the cost.

On my last service (50,000), I did get a good quote from a very well respected independent Subaru specialist (Subaru4You) but Bulldog were not that far out.

Now I am out of Subaru Warranty, I may well move to Subaru4You, if only if I get the interim oil change done.

Hope this helps. Paul
