Question Genaral running costs/reliability

hi, if you havent read my other topic i am interested in a impreza. I have a vx220 and may be interested in a 52/03 at the oldest impreza(not sti, cannot afford). I am forever seeing impreza's with engine failure, even as new as 03 mended under warranty. shurley this cant be right! Ive had civic type R and vx and never once seen any engine/gear box problems and these cars get thrashed just the same. On top of this the other thing is servicing costs. If i swap for a car with 20k on it what costs am i gonna be stuck with when it goes in for service.

ps, any1 out there with a silver or blue STANDARD 52> impreza wrx with less than 25k on clock with full subaru history. Fancy a proper toy, Bright yellow vx220 22k on clock

A lot of them are horror stories not all impreza's blow up. I only know one person who blew theres up and thats because he messed about trying for silly power from an engine with standard internals. You rarely hear of unmodified impreza's blowing up
