WR1s - why so many for sale?
just counted 24 in Autotrader alone -
now, by my maths, there were 185 - granted, that's only 13% of the stock.
This then exlcudes any other advertising (Top Marques etc)
Is this normal?
Just interested - NOT making an arguement or drawing conclusions JUST interested!!!

Because they're poo???
Once the novelty of the colour's worn off, all you're left with is a hugely overpriced car with massive understeer!!!
Oops, now that IS both argumentative AND drawing conclusions...
Ah well...who cares!

probably the same reason as so many Sti's. There more exspensive then people beleive and cant justify them after a while and want to get rid. What would be more intereessting to see is how many WR1 owners sold on and got another scooby to those who got a different car

They've been used, abused and are now getting chucked out to make way for new toys. Some people have more money than sense and won't keep anything much longer than a year or they get bored.

there seems to be quite a lot in the dealers too.....all with VERY low mileage - makes you think! Personally I wouldn't mind one, make my insurance cheaper than having an Sti with PPP

with so many on the market they can no longer be considered a limited edition - frankly are they not just an STi PPP in a gay colour? - what is going rate? - I would still have one if the price was same as Sti PPP, though prefer silver..

And significantly as all that is on the car to start with they are CHEAPER to insure than an STi PPP, in fact mine is cheaper to insure than my previous MY98 Wagon with PPP!
And yes I still love it and no it is not for sale.

Hi Robin
not so much criticism as wishful thinking that WR1 are becoming affordable perhaps - not keen on colour though, and various tuners state that both Prodrive maps produce similar performance - what is going rate?

there are 2 WR1's at jennings subaru with less than 10k on both up for 26995. If I could afford that I think id prefer an evo 9. I like wrx's because they are more affordable to start and in use

When I went to the 1st WR1 Owners Club rolling road day, the WR1's varied and seemed to be very use dependant. Mike Wood very kindly came along and plugged his lap top into each car and it became clear that the cars that were 'driven as they were intended to be driven' gave the most power as the ECU gave more boost when the car is driven harder regularly. On that occasion my WR1 made the most power .
There was also at least one or two Sti PPP's that attended and they didn't match the power of the WR1's.
Colour is of course personal preference, I love it and find from non-scooby folk I get nothing but compliments...
I was at Cross Roads last week and they had one on the forecourt at £27,995.
C2forWRX - Depends what you want the car for, I considered an Evo obviously when spending my money but IMHO as a daily driver the WR1 wins hands down due to better ride and being less tiring to drive.
When I talked to Alistair Clements at Autocar (in his previous job at Classic and Sportscar he borrowed two of my classics for articles) who did the tests on both the WR1 and Evo (and he is a confirmed Evo fan) he was also of the opinion that for my circmstances the WR1 was definitely the better choice.
BUT it is exactly that what suits an individuals needs and circumstances.
Cheers

Would love to have a WR1, Sti with enhanced PPP, cheaper insurance, great colour, not the usual (yawn) WR blue with gold wheels....
Just can't afford it. maybe in another 4-5 years when they are down to 10k

Would love to own one but must agree with the majority and say the stumbleing block (if i could infact afford one, which i can't) would be the colour.

Driver controlled centre differential.
Been standard on Jap cars for quite some time. The WR1 was the first official UK car with it. But IIRC the 05 Sti either has it or can have it as an option, but not 100% which.
