Default Worth buying a 53 sti with ppp??

Found a lovely black sti which i'm thinking of buying, it's got 26 k on the clock and the guy is asking £19,000 for it. Does this sound like a fair price? It's a lovely motor but the only thing that's putting me off is that the new impreza is being released in october! Do i stand to lose a shed load of money if i buy it for this price? Interested to hear your opinions!

Cheers guys.

Hi David.

I bought my black 53 plate sti with PPP for £19k last month with some nice extras and its done 13k miles. This included a spare set of alloys, front lip amongst other things.

I'm also thinking about the possibility of losing some money when the new model comes out and only hope its not as severe as the hit the buy eyes took. Saying that I wanted the car and had to pay the asking price as I know it would have been snapped up.

I'd certainly be wanting a touch off that asking price. In fact I'd be looking more at the £18k and dont forget isnt the big service due in another couple of thousand miles?

David.
You won't lose as much on a used model than if you bought brand new! I doubt the used values will suffer much, it's still a lot of car for the money. The new one will only be out for six months before rumours of a facelift/update/interior change start, so if you kept holding off for the best car, you'll never buy one. The models are updated nearly every year in some way or another, it's just the way it's always been with Subaru.

You can get a brand new WRX with free PPP for £19250. This is what I've been offered with as trade in!!

David,

A few subaru dealers have vehicles of a similar spec and mileage for that money so you have plentyof choice - As for the price drop, crystal ball please - no one can be truely sure of the size of the drop only that it will!

It doesn't have the PPP, but you could still add it, or get a power increase another way (if you're not worried about warrantee)

My mates just px'd his Blobeye STi 8 ppp for £15,500,the main subaru dealer only offered him £15,000 so i think you would lose a fair bit on it,it was an 03 with 20,000 miles on it.

Sounds a little high to me, but if you like it, go for it.

I do know of 03 STIs with PPP and other bits going for 17k; it depends on how desperate the seller is to get shot of it.

Q/

Now that the new shape is 'pretty' much official (Autocar), I think it fair to say that the 'Blob Eye' 03-05 will become more sought after - Who would pay £10k more for pig ugly looks? - 03/04 STis PPP should hover just under £20k and 05s just over for quite a while me thinks...

When is "The big service" due? And how much will that set me back? Also what do they actually do at this service? The more i know the stronger position i will be in to negotiate! I maybe pushing my luck but i'm going to offer 17.5 k then maybe i'll get it for around 18k.

Cheers for all the info!

Thanks.
