STI 555 is different as STI RA VLTD
STI 555 have red top engine and STI gearing, STI RA VLTD doesnt have red top and have RA gearing....both have roof vent and IC water spray, the one you have is a STI RA VLTD, not a STI 555...

. He does Have the red top engine, I've seen it. Don't know why he thinks you don't have one. Maybe he can see through your bonnet vents....

Where people get confused is there was several 555 Editions made.
In 95, they released the STi II - 555 limited edition, the first 'special' that STi produced. This was the one available with the Rally look a like decals, 16" Safari alloys roof vent, etc.
In 96 they released a STi 3 V-Ltd ,these have plaques numbered 1 to 555 (no 13) and 555 on the seats rather than STi, people call these 555 editions (Subaru never did).
In early 97 an "individual 555" special edition was lanched as a version of the 5 door car.
For europe in 96 they made a 555 edition of the european Turbo 2000.
Other special editions were launched limited to 555 cars, so more confusion comes from there.
The red inlet manifold was available on the STi II, from what I can tell subaru mixed and matched parts from various bins when they came to build these special editions.
The only way to tell what car you have is by looking at the applied model code on the vin plate.

thankyou ken that is great! my car is a MY95 so that would explain why it doesn't have a number
i have the right applied model number (which is the same as for 555 and sti) and the right colour! so this sort of makes sense now!
thanks again mate!
