Very nice type RA all you need to do first is ensure the insurance is not a problem, as we have seen people on here buy cars but then cannot insure them
Also you have to say its a type RA and not just a wrx.
Id suggest a knocklink for this car, it NEEDS to be run on a MINIMUM of super unleaded, and if it were me i would also add octane booster (as i do to my JDM STi).
Mods can come later, you need to get use to the car, and then look at the brakes before going for power, as if you cannot stop, whats the use of going faster?

Tony

PS, ensure it has a full service history, atleast a recent cambelt change and a major service if possible, if not put around 800 quid to one side for this as it may cost you a bit (and dont neglect the servicing unless you want problems in the very near future )

it has the service history tony and is a well looked after car...checked insurance and i can get it for £490 fully comp due to my old age...the only reason i asked about the power upgrade is that my last 2 cars have been a 360bhp 2wd cosworth and a 350 bhp r32 gtr skyline and i was worried it might seem slow although i know its low geared for good acceleration.it has year 2000 sti brake upgrade as far as i could make out!

Have a word with Andy F, he can put you on the right track for modifying these cars but you would best start with the knocklink, get one from www.jap-innovations.co.uk and a bosch sensor due to these cars tuned to run on 100 ron fuel, plus from there, exhaust, filter etc will push you up to around 280ish bhp, though with a bit more cash 300+ will be available to you

Good Luck!!

Had to chuckle at the 25 MPG Lets be honest and call it 15 shall we?

Only I can get 25 MPG regularly .... and I drive like a woman - THAT car has been taken to Subaru Heaven and back more than once I am guessing!

You'll LOVE it!

I'm no expert having only driven 3 scoobys (standard MY00 and upgraded UK wagon MY97 to 250bhp), but I reckon your looking at 4.7 ish 0-60, and maybe quarter mile in about 13.5 secs, dunno about 0-100 - the scoobys all about traction in first and second!!!!

The RA IIRC is all about low ratio gearing and lightweight.

(I could be bloody miles out here BTW)
