Default JDM Models and EU/EC safety compliance

Hi

I wonder if you guys can help me with some information on the JDM models that are imported into the UK. In South Africa we are only able to get permission to import new cars as personal imports that have either an EU or EEC safety compliance certificate. Obviously importing from Japan none of the cars have this as they are supposed to be for the Japanese domestic market only.

Can any of you tell me if any of the local JDM suppliers would be able to supply me with a EU/EEC Safety Compliance certificate if I imported via the UK/EC?

Regards

John Brinkman

Default JDM Registration in the UK

I am desperate to get a Spec C registered in South Africa but cannot figure a way to get around the car having to be compliant with UE/EEC safety regulations (or subjected to a frontal impact test!). Has anybody got any suggestions? What is the proces in the UK for the cars to be registered?
