...went to look at a turbo engine today near Gatwick, the guy on the phone the other day said bla bla bla, and said i could see the engine in the car which was still running.
got there and he lead me into his garage and said what do you think?..all it was was a pile of metal with some red and blue bits mixed into it
he said someone wanted some parts off the car so he took the engine out:mad
how am i supposed to know what he was trying to sell me?.....it did look clean though
i didnt have anybody.......all my mates are as fluffy as me
i thought if it was in the car and the car was running... even though the back of the car was missing, he said i could still try it out
i feel stoopid now
it was only £600
My rule: never buy an engine that's been taken out of car.
The only exception is if you buy it with the intention to strip and re-build it - in which case you only pay what its worth less the re-build cost.
I've bought too many "running" and "good condition" engines that have turned out to be shagged as soon as I whipped the sump off and had a proper look.
There are too many con artists about....when quizzed, they'll plead ignorance
i think it only had 25k on the clock........but the clock was gone :ccuckoo:
it was nice and clean though, i dont even know what i was looking at to be honest.
knowing me i could have gone off with a Mountfield lawn mower
naa, i didnt really
ive got a red mountfield, briggs and stratton, and a green Hayter. the Hayter has no grassbox and the mountfield has got a box but the engine wont start, but the grassbox wont fit the other one.......dont suppose you have a spare grass box Ali
