Default Any discount on a brand new WRX?

After the carry on with the import, I am looking at buying a brand new WRX from a main dealer. Has anyone had any experience with trying to obtain a reduction in the screen price of the car - never had to deal with Subaru before, so don't know what sort of discount (if any) can be negotiated. Going to the dealer tomorrow - would be nice to be armed with some advice!!

Thanks

Yeah - Milngavie. Will let you know how I get on - are you also looking at picking up a new Scooby in the near future?

Kind of.

Always looking and comparing.

I've dealt with S&S 4 times in the past and they seemed pretty good at sales, just not so good at service. To be fair, I think that is the fault of IM, not the franchises.

I'm just curious how you get on with The Place In Mingavie as their initial prices seem quite high.

Perhaps more scope for negotiatiion?

K.

Mate, just to give you some idea, don`t know about the availability up where you are of dealers etc, but I bought a brand new WRX (standard) about 6 weeks ago, from Northwest England, and I was knocked about 2k off list price, effectively.

I actually part-ex`d my last car in, but I was given about 2k more than I had been offered in various other dealers against different things.

I was actually offered exactly the same part-ex price at another local Subaru franchised dealer as well. Hope this helps, and good luck.

I got a MY 05 WRX SL wagon with a saving of £1850 off retail so it can be had if you look hard enough. Research is what matters - the internet is a massive library so youhave to read the books. Then you can start comparing. The dealer I got mine from was some £270 miles away and yet part of the deal was free delivery on the back of a low loader to my house. That still makes me smile....

Looks like I picked the wrong day to visit the dealership. The 3 Subaru guys were away to a show and I had to deal with the guy who usually looks after the Vauxhall part of the dealership. Whilst they were really helpful, there seemed to be a real reluctance to cut a good deal. Didn't offer me a particularly good trade in price for my Merc, and didn't give any idea of a discount in the price of the Impreza (despite me saying that I would sign on the dotted line there and then if the price was right!!). They have taken my details and confirmed that one of the Subaru guys will call me on Monday - time will tell!!!

Caught up with the dealer - offered my a brand new WRX with metallic paint and PPP for £17995. Seemed pretty good (although depreciation does worry me - if the dealer is prepared to knock over £2K off of a brand new car, what will it be worth in a couple of years time!!), but in the end, I have decided to move back to the dark side and purchase yet another German car (struck a good deal with Audi for a nice new A4 convertible!!)
