Need suggestions for new wipers, current ones are rubbish
I recently purchased a MY99 UK turbo. There have been a few bits and pieces that need to get sorted, one being the wipers.
When it rains, and I am driving at speed, the wipers just don't work. They move over the surcface of the water failing to move it out of the way I've looked at the wipers, they are marked as Bosch. They also have that spolier thing at the bottom that is used to press them onto the screen at speed.
What would people recommend that I replace these with?

A group buy seems like a good idea to me
The PIAA ones look like they could be pretty good too. Just have to see if this potential group buy comes off. I'm all for a saving a few quid where I can. My Scooby is eating all of my cash

What sort of PIAA ones are you using? There are 3 different ones form what I can see. I'm guessing you have the ones with the spolier? BTW - is your car a classic?

Right, been in contact with andy, and he'll see how many bosch ones he can order in one go
Also the headlamp bulbs he got for me from bosch are bloody fantastic, and worth fitting IMHO.
I'll see if he can get some of them too!
chris.

Stupid me just left my work area with this thread open, non-car enthusiast has a peek. Now getting laughed at for looking on a site where " a load of blokes getting exited about windscreen wipers" guffaw guffaw.
Oh dear.

I got my PIAA blades from Alyn at http://www.asperformance.com as he does them at a really good price. I've had them on my last 4 cars and wouldn't use any other blades now.
I just have the normal black blades, without the spoiler thingy. They're fine at 150+mph*.
*on a circuit etc etc.

With PIAA you get the same effect as using rainX except you don't have to keep reaplying it every few weeks..!
I have the std black ones, no spoiler and no noise or lift at any speed (if you need them that is). even when you run them on a dry windsreen they just glide. Definately the ones to have..!

Sounds like I will be giving the PIAA ones a shot. I always have wondered why manufactueres do not fit wipers like these as standard.

I have just fitted PIAA wipers to my MY03 WRX. Drivers side i got the spoiler one. Now its time for 2 n00b questions:- The spoiler, points down towards the bonnet, is that right? Secondly, during the 5 min dry run i have just done as per instructions, i must say the "thud, thud" i get as they change direction surprised me. Surely this is not right? I was expecting silence to be honest. But right at the change in wiper direction there is a noticable thud type noise. Hmmm, sorry i cannot describe it any better.
And apologies for n00b spoiler question.

I get my Bosch ones from Ebay, but dont get them for fitment to a scooby.....
There are other cars with the same sized blades for cheaper than the ones listed for scoob, I paid £8.99 for a pair of Lexus ones I think where as the scooby listed ones where £11.99!! Exactly the same blades just at different prices, weird!

I put the JML wiper blades on my car - i.e. keeping the old wiper with the spoiler. I have found that over 70mph they dont do a very good job - Must be something to do with the wind pressure on the spoiler making it collapse. Other than that they are pretty good and easy to fit for less than £4!!!!
