My forward gears are all ok, but when i try to but it in reverse it takes two or three goes, makes a grinding noise too is it on it,s way out ? on a my00 uk turbo 50k.

It is a common fault on MY00s. It is caused by the fifthgear retaining nut working loose and causing the forks which select reverse to be interfeared with, causing probs with selection of reverse.
Mine has done it for about 30,000 miles and still does it now.
Just got used to it.

thanks mate. sounds strange. but have to live with it better than a paying out for a new gearbox .

Mine is a MY99, has some issues with reverse. Was told that when you feel it is not going into reverse properly, select first then try reverse again. For me, that works really really well. HTH

Also pump the clutch a few times seems to work? Havnt worked out why.

Yeah, I've got this - MY00 - select 1st/2nd and then reverse, also as has been said depress clutch a few times ........ it happens now and again on most cars I have owned.
