Default Scooby as a company car

Hi folks, has anyone here been able to put a new scoob down as a company car? Particularly the self-employed?

You can have anything as a company car, especially if you are self-employed. at work we have alfa romeos and Golf GTI's.

hi, thanks for reply. Does it come in as much of a benefit. I have recently went the self employed route, and dont do that much mileage and thought that rather than having the taxman have all my money it might be nice for him to part fund a Subaru! Also, does it have to be a new car to qualify, or could you go for something 6 months old?

i have just went on elephant.co.uk and got a quote of £1383 for Business class 1 , which doesnt seem too bad? For a 2002 wrx sti. What i would intend doing is maybe keeping a small van for the longer runs, then having the scoob for the weekends and saving a few pounds from Mr Brown! Until its time to fill up anyway.
Anyone know of people leasing subarus?

No, any car regardless of age can be used. You can claim the vat and tax etc. Just remember to depreciate your car every year. You can infact depreciate your car on the day you buy it, this will reduce your fixed asset amount and will reduce your tax bill. You can claim repairs and petrol as well.

Its not worth it if your self employed, you will get hammered on the company car tax rule, basically you will be paying twice for the car in 3 years, also goes on emissions, which scoobs are pretty high in the rankings for.
Best bet is buy the scoob for yourself privately then buy a second (hand) car for your business use (on the insurance) it will probably work out much cheaper.

It also depends on your line of business and what your annual turnover is. Like Tony said you will have to pay under the company car tax rule but i am not sure how this would work in relation if it is your business and the car will be your only transport (ie only vehicle). Best to give the tax office a ring they will help you.

28mpg only ever achievable if your doing a constant 56mph on a 300mile run of motorway slip streaming a 4ton artic all the way

subject to fuel pricing (SUL of course) 89.9

and volvume of fuel £43
