WRC 330, TSL 333 or PPP?
Which is the best all rounder, and how do I know which one to choose? I presume they all have plus and minus points, warranty aside. My car is an 03 STi. I just want a smooth, reliable power/torque increase that is within the design envelope of the engine.

Exhaust sounds WRCesque with the window down and very muted with it up. - 1st & 2nd are somply brutal, whilst 3rd, 4th & 5th are just alarming! - Took a couple of friends out tother day (full tank and 45 stone - 5.625 cwt! - of occupants) and their comments were that ' its a fairground ride - a scary fairground ride - not a car - brutal'
Not tried 333, but would like to

"Evo" mag did a comparision of those along with the Roger Clark conversion and a few others a few months back, but can't remember which edition.

Regarding that 'EVO' mag comparison , the TSL333 came tops for what they called 'PPP equivalent conversions' while the 15 grand 'Roger Clark Motorsport' conversion came tops overall with about 450bhp I think. Will hunt out the back issue today and post it up.

I have the TSL 333 mod on my V7 STI it is awsome, i also have the No Cat Group N exhaust which was a 'mistake' by TSL but once i had heard it I couldnt really give it back!! Cost 2.5K Total, but so worth it... and passed the MOT first time at a normal local garage, was a bit worried without the CATs fitted. TSL are super busy people, they turn customers away!! thats how popular they are, but that said they where gents to me, the owner is a bit scary behind the wheel as well, he drives your car with the test engineer looking at your map before they accept your car, just in case there are any dodgy mods on the vehicle... they are thorough, but very professional, i would recomend them,

Is it a UK car that you have? If the answer is yes then ppp is the only way to keep your warranty. If its not or your not bothered about your warranty then the world is your lobster..... I have the 333 and i'm very very happy.
Oh and to the guy who spoke to TSL and thought they were a little off I expect you spoke to Graham, who is trousers Dad and yes he is a little off when it comes to customer service, he also ownes the joint. Ring back and speak to Gavin, that would be my advice.....

As for comparisons as said read the old EVO mag but to be honest I doubt on normal road use you will find that much difference between all your choices.

Found the issue of Evo magazine that the comparison was in! It's the June 2004 issue and is about 10 pages long. As mentioned a great read & well worth trying to get hold of. I haven't got a scanner or I'd try to post it up !
TSL 333 came top for the more modest packages , while the 15k Roger Clark Engine Rebuild type conversion came out tops for the 'Money no object' section.

If you already have PPP then dont bother upgrading you wont feel much of a difference. Unless you go for something wild of course, but then reliability will probably go out of the window too

tsl motorsport in Notts do a package that takes the UK STi up from 261bhp/ 253 lb ft torque upto 333bhp and 330 lb ft torque. WRC Tech at Silverstone do a similar thing, 330bhp and similar torque. TSL package is around £2100, WRC Tech around £1800. WRC Tech are the new boys on the block but have plenty of experience in this field. TSL are the old hands. As for whether you can have this work done on a WRX probably yes, will it output 330bhp, no, as your starting point is 220bhp, not 261, not sure what a wrx engine will take but it is bound to be in here somewhere

Even if you go the 2.5 route, you'll still need bigger injectors/fuel pump/turbo/remap etc, if you only want 330 buy all of the above and save yourself the 1500 quid for the 2.5 short engine and use your 2.0.

i would rather pay the 1500 extra and have engine that lasts for years. not saying that the above wouldnt, but suruly its better to have a lighter modified, but larger engine. Than a heavily modified 2.0.
