Anyone fitted parking sensors?
Was thinking about fitting rear (and possibly front) parking sensors to MY05 WRX. There appear to be two types the ultrasonic (drill holes in your bumper) or the hidden electromagnetic tapes hidden behind bumper.
Anyone had any experience of either are they worth fitting.

I had Subarus parking sensors fitted from day one ... after 18 months I have come to the conclusion they are a total waste of money IMHO (Edit: after one week I began to suspect my folly). Not once have they helped me to park ... the whining just gets annoying
Drive your car and learn its dimensions (assuming it is different from your previous vehicle) ... do not park by 'feel' like several old dears I've witnessed (one a neighbour who left a chunk of indicator the size of a shotglass on my bumper ... oh how I laughed)

Hey give me a break I've been driving a 206gti for years (much easier to judge reversing distances)

I disagree.
I have parking sensors on rear of my bmw and they are excellent - makes a huges difference when parallel parking etc.
When I get into my 04 STI - I do miss not having them.
If you want flash - I borrowed a BMW 5 series - not only does it beep but the computer shows a graphics display on how close you are to the object - smart (but expensive).

The wife had them fitted on her Previa... Don't think they did much good though - she reversed into a wall. Funny thing was - she knocked the corner parking sensor out of the bumper

I've got them on my Octavia vRS and wouldn't be without them. I decided that I needed them first time I tried to reverse an Octy on the test drive! I suspect that a Scooby might have better rear visibility, though.

Had parking sensors on my CTR and they where good, was going to have them on my new Scoob but once I drove it I remembered to use the back spoiler as an easy referance when parking and didn't bother

unless you mount your eyes on your front bumper you cant beat sensors....all my last few cars have had them and they are great for parking quicker and safer.....also usefull when pulling out of spaces as you can tell how close your front wing is to the item in front.........with sensors you can get a 1-2 inch warning that you could NEVER judge by sight....instead you would have to reverse and do the move in two.
