Pan European Warranty
I know much discussion takes place on the warranty issue but would somebody who actually knows about the procedures for registering your EU import with IM and subsequent procedures including making a claim (Where apparently the selling dealer must confirm their agreement to work being carried out and the customer paying up front initially).
I would like to keep this thread clear of the usual pro's and cons of imports vs official UK cars please, I think enough has been said elsewhere on that interesting debate, which will go on forever.
Many thanks guys and I am sure somebody will have the answers.

Take the certificate of conformity, copy of your invoice (can blank prices out), Copy of the original supplying delear invoice, your V5, to your local dealer and ask them to register the car with IM. Or the supplying import dealer in my case Alliance will do it as well. I took mine to the local dealer who waas more that happy to do it - infact he had three cars to do that day all from Alliance. Takes less than two weeks to get the car on IM register.
Warrenty claim I'm not sure of as touch wood never had anything go wrong with any of my UK spec import Scoobs. Had one very slight problem with a Mazda (handbrake button broke) that Alliance imported for me, but that was very quickly resolved and fixed under warrenty within one day.

COC not required.
Just send your name and address to IM, together with copy invoice from the dealer in country of origin.
