Default Any1 know why? taxation class on subaru

i have just noticed that on the log books for my KA (1300cc) & Focus (2000cc) the taxation class id "PETROL" whereas on the Subaru (2000cc) the class is "PLG (PRIVATE/LIGHT GOODS)"

any1 know thereason for this?

or is it purely another class to simply charge an extra £70 a year?

How old is your subaru? The taxation classes changed a while back so if you have a classic scoob it will be PLG but if you had a newer one i believe that it would now be classed as PETROL.

your scooby will be plg cos of its age. its a good thing cos it means youll pay only 185 a year for road tax. newer scoobs will pay upto £400ish becuase they are taxed on c02 levels

Road tax - Parker's

i think at least £310 per year

but I suppose the problem is all cars registered after 1st March 2001 have to have C02 reading listed on the V5 - which means they are always liable to an even bigger increase based on emissions in the future

thats why i bought pre 1st March 2001 -- not sure most people realise the implications of this
