Default Faded Dash

My dash has faded in the sun and nothing i can find anywhere will put the colour back into it. I have contacted ChipsAway, who renovate all sorts and they want to take the dash out and spray, which would be a long job and prob costly. I want to do it myself, any ideas??

Have you tried some kind of polish/liquid (maybe from Halfords) that you can put on, rub in and whatever, then buff up to restore the colour? It might be worth a go. And there may be something from the car modding scene (look at Demon Tweeks) that you can apply to part or all of dash to add a bit of pizazz and style - say carbon fibre or mock aluminium sheet/inserts that are stuck on to dash/facia. There's lots of these things that come in kits - advertised in the likes of Fast Car magazine. I'm no modder myself mind - I just read my son's magazines.

You could try some Fablon, like they used to use on Blue Peter.

Spoke to ChipsAway and they wanted to take the dash out to do it. I know this is a job on its own, so cant see £40 covering it on my part??

Had this prob with mine as well.... got some black buff on stuff and also a spray from Halford and with a bit of time and patience and many coats it has now come up fine ( applied about 10 coats over the space of a week )

You could consider having it flocked; the end result is quite impressive but youll have to remove the dash for that too. Think: black Subuteo pitch...

Have a go with Joh*sons baby wipes.... they contain moisturiser which sorted out the same problem for me on a VW Golf. It needed wiping over regularly but at £2 for 72 wipes who cares

above the clocks cluster on mine is "wierd"

only on the raised part it looks like its faded, although its going a slightly whiteish colour

plastic dressing will not shift it, and when plastic dressing is applied, it then reacts and laves sum kind of smeariny vapour ****e on my windscreen, its really bizzare tbh
