Default More miles on the clock = more go?

Just about on 20,000 miles now with my 04 WRX PPP.

Seems lately she's really very eager higher up in the rev range. Boost guage reads 1.2 bar so everything seems ok there. I work with a lad who lives in the same direction as me so we regularly battle on the way in to and home from work and i'm tearing him a new one in every gear, I'm not just edging past him - I'm sailing past. Mind you I should be - it's just a standard Classic Turbo 1997 no mods. I've got the extra power (but I've also got a lot of extra weight too).

I'm on my fourth scoob now and all have really loosened up around 20k.

Anyone else getting a bit more punch out of their WRX/Sti similar miles or am I imagining it?

As the engine gets more miles, it will free up to some degree - giving a little extra performance - wouldn't have thought it would be that noticeable though!

It's not that I'm feeling much more power, it's more watching the rev counter and seeing it really sweep past 5500 like all of a sudden it can breathe at higher revs.

All of the Impreza's i've had (new) have felt a bit short of breath over 5500/5750 rpm and all lose that tendancy after 20k ish.

Yep, I noticed the same on mine when it had a few miles under its belt. Also I've found the gearchange has improved considerably since I first bought it.
