Default Hi, new member (Phil)

Hello all, i've just registered and would like to introduce myself. I have just bought a 2000 (V) impreza turbo 67,000 miles UK model. Is there any common faults I need to know? The car has a FSSH, cam belt change at 60,000, dump valve, full stainless, new clutch. This is my first subaru.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Regards,
Phil.

Welcome Phil , some good background info here http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm MAF sensors can play up a bit on the 1999 model ,try a search on here to find out more ,as it's been covered lots . Frequent oil changes are always a good idea as I'm sure you're aware . Another 'common fault ' is spending los of cash on modding it to go faster ...it wont be long

Hello

As Sticks says, MAF's can be troublesome on 98-00 cars. Watch for erratic idling and a flat spot at around 4k revs. Some replace them annually just in case, but you can check it by doing a reset (on classics this is possible using some connectors under the steering column, but I've never done it so ask someone else, and if the MAF is fahooked it won't start after). All Scoobs have holes in their petrol tanks and yes, the modding bug is contagious and incurable or is that

Thanks very much lads. I used to have a 106 gti which was very heavily modified, she was pushing out almost 180bhp. But this motor is something special.
I'll have a look at the bits and bobs that you both have mentioned. No doubt i'll be calling on your assistance again
Once again thanks.
Phil.
