Angry Out Of Gas!

04 STI - Fuel light came on at 198miles from full and conked out 18 miles later!!! so much for 9litres left when the light comes on!!!
right in the middle of a busy junction - not happy.
filled up and squeezed 58 litres in - so what happened to the other two?
oh well in future light on fuel in.
live and learn.

On the bright side of course, being an 04 there's not been much time for lots of bits of crap to infest your fuel tank and get sucked into the system when you ran dry.

So not all bad news

Didn't realise we had fuel lights - I've been low a few times, but not seen anything light up. I've had a look at the lights that appear when you turn the ignition key - not noticed anything that resembles a fuel sign.

Whereabouts is the light?

I've got a 53 STI (UK) and previously had an 03 WRX (UK) - don't know if it's because the cars are a bit older and didn't have them or whether yours is a Jap model and had it?

I'll prepare to go and stand in the corner with a dunces hat if I have got one...

You have got a low fuel light, you're just manageable when you fill up! Your gauge was low but not low enough to warrant the fuel light coming on!

I thought they were supposed to light up when you first turn the ignition on (to show the bulbs are working)? LOL - where should I be looking? I can't have missed them on 2 scoobies? (can I?)

The fuel light doesn't come on with the ignition, even if you have one at all.

My '05 JDM car (with the illuminated red dials, not available in the UK) has a small round yellow light just below the fuel gauge, it comes on when there's about 10 litres left.

I never realised my old FTO had a fuel light. That was until it came on about 30 seconds before I ran out of fuel. Triffic.

Only time I have ever seen my fuel light is when I picked it up from Scooby Clinic after having some work done!

Think someone did a few too many miles 'testing' the car after the 50bhp hike...

But with a bit of sensible driving I did make it 15 miles to a decent petrol station, and they did a top job of the map
