Default CAR'S WE USED TO OWN

Hope i'm posting this in the right fred.

1. Anyway's past my test when i was eighteen bought the first car i seen, v reg bright yella fiesta 9.50 paid 450 quid loved it, even tho it never went above 50mph. Had it 6mth took it for an mot it was a right off (twisted chasis) Bought it from a back st garage and could'nt afford to take them to a small claims court so had to cut my loses. I was gutted.

2. YEH another fiesta when i was 22 this time 1.1 paid 250 for it cost me another 250 to put it throught it's mot and guess what this time i could go over 60mph. That car never let me down, It was that clean and reliable, we traded it in 3 yrs later, for another car and the mechanic kept the fiesta.

3. Traded fiesta in for orion 16i ghia, this was more like it, bright red lovely car always drove like a new car. Then a few month later hubby decided it was'nt powerful enough and he fell in love with the astra gte, so yes he bought one, went like sh*t off a stick but was forever breaking down.

4. A couple of years or so later i begged my hubby to get a new fam car, you know something sensible now with us having to kid's. So we bought a p reg primera paid 10k for it had it for 3 yrs again a good reliable car but flat as a fart. Traded it in for the puma Jennings gave us 1700 for it i could have cried,
my hubby said told u so, family cars ar'nt worth sh*t.

5. Ford puma, what can i say, loved it, topper little car but not practical when you've got 2 kids scrunshed in the back. Kept it for 3 yrs traded it in got 6k off it against the scoob.

6.THE SCOOBY picked it up 12/03/05 uk300 51000 ( the puma only had 30000) But always been hubby's dream car. I got to be honest i love the car it get's plenty of look's but i dunno if i prefer the puma, i know there's no comparison re power and speed but every time i drive the scoob i feel like i'm driving a TANK imho. So there you have that's the history of my cars.

All the other cars I've owned pale into insignificance. Suffice to say that I went through the list on Ford (ex Capris) and no car was better than the Mk 4 Cortina, though the 3.0 Granada came very close.

Prior to picking up the MY01 WRX in March 02 which has been awesome I had a Nissan Primera GT which was a fantastic car relative to any of its immediate competitors. This Saturday I pick up a PPP'd 05 Sti UK. Gonna find it hard to top this without spending at least treble the money.

87 Ford Escort 1.3 "Panache" aka Escort Popular with a blue stripe instead of the standard colour. Crashed it into a mondeo, mates dad rebuilt the front end for me cheap, hit by dozy bint in a Sierra in St. Helens, fixed by insurance, eventually killed by garage mechanic who didn't tighten the sump plug properly after a service, rebuilt engine, lasted 6 months, finally conking out for good 5 minutes after leaving the house of the guy I bought my next car from.

89 Ford Escort 1.6 "Sport" aka Escort XR3i only with a carburettor and no bodykit, would outpull XR3is though they had a higher top speed. It eventually started snapping manifolds, so I stuck a complete Ashley system in there, never had any problem and as a bonus it started accelerating even faster. Then it was stolen, had 1000 miles put on it in 4 days before being dumped, police phoned to tell me they'd found it but by the time I got there the kids had been playing in it and had driven it through a fence. Fixed it all then the gearbox started losing gears and eventually jammed in 4th, somehow drove it through liverpool town centre in 4th and got new recon gearbox, 4 days later a Manq taxi driver drove into my B pillar and wrote it off, then got his passenger to say it was my fault.

89 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 L, officially this car was bergundy but it had faded to **** brown, never serviced, never looked after, emergency car bought while the escort was stolen, lent to several of my friends when they got stuck, eventually scrapped when an MOT tester pulled a huge chunk of wheelarch off and gave me my £25 back.

89 Ford Escort 0.0 GL, ok this was really a 1.6 GL but it was mising an engine, hence very cheap, so my old engine and gearbox and exhaust get transferred across, great fun, lasted 6 months before dieing a week before I started my new job (which included company car), camshaft snapped between cylinders 2 and 3, it needs 4 new valves and a new camshaft, and is currently still rotting around the back of my flat.

00 VW Golf 1.9 TDI 90. It's a golf, diesel company car, not a lot to stay about it really.

01 Audi TT 1.8 225. The first vaguely quick car I've had, courtesy of work, it was pretty fun to drive in all honesty and probably a good performance car to learn in rather than jumping straight into an STI and writing it off. Pity it had no room for anything and killed my social life as I've always been the one with the car.

99 Subaru Legacy B4 RSK. Now we're talking. it's my own, not company though my car allowance from work is paying the loan off nicely. Twin turbo, plenty of room to seat 5 adults and a ton of boot space, out accellerates pretty much anything I've gone up against, and I don't get any of the chav image because no-one knows what the hell this car is. I often get people pull up alongside me and ask about it if I go out driving on a hot day with the windows down. Possibly the first car I've truely liked. Puty some idiot rear ended it and nearly wrote it off after I'd had it a month and a bit.
