With the introduction of the new Forester 2.5 XT in New York, the
performance of this 230 hp model seems to near those from the Impreza STi.

That raises the question why I still have to buy a STi, when I can get for less money a car that is more luxurious, offers me more space and is more practical, with almost the same performances.

And then I have not even mentioned the Legacy Spec B, which maybe misses that explosive strength of the STi, but is far more modern, with more safety features and better equipped then the STi.

To stay competitive I think it is time for Subaru to send the US 2.5 STi to Europe.

And to get realy ahead of the competition it would be nice when it would have 350 hp like the Litchfield Impreza.

Or am I alone in this opinion?

If you want pracitcallity and an estate i would personally in the uk go with:

Subaru Legacy GT twin turbo.

If you want a true handling track car go with the STi.

The Forester aint going to handle anything like that

It doenst have the same performance! It has a similar power output, but from a heavier car.

Your very much mistaken if you think their performance is comparable

It is not that the Forester and Legacy will be faster then the STi, but the distance between the both cars and the STi is not that much anymore then it should.

And that is why I think it is time for the 2.5 Liter STi.
Look at the 2.5 XT and the 2.0 XT Forester, that 0,5 Liter gives a lot more performance and hasn't the Forester STi in Japan a 2.5 Liter too?

Why has the last mentioned a 2.5 Liter and not the 2.0 Liter from the Impreza? So I think Subaru itself gives the answer.

The FXT 2.5 is a very refined car when compared to an STi, for day to day driving the Forester is better to live with.
