Scooby Power / Tunability

Scooby Power / Tunability
Hi Guys,
(Noobie here, so excuse my ignorance)
I've been having a look at the forum, and general information about Impreza's as I have wanted one for a while, and may be in a position to buy one in the near future.
I currently own a Calibra Turbo, which I've modified to increase the power.
However, after reading a few things, I'm worried that the Scooby is not going to be as quick as I'd hoped, and will cost a relatively large amount to modify.
Basically, I've spent about £750 modifying my Calibra, and a recent rolling road session showed that I have:
258 Bhp @ 5530 RPM
289 lb ft @ 3727 RPM
These figures were achieved with 17psi overboost and 12 psi held boost.
(Vauxhall's overboost in the midrange, then drop to a held boost from about 4000rpm onwards)
Will I be able to achieve greater power / torque figures from a Scooby easily, or is it going to cost me a lot of money?
I'd really like to have an Impreza for the handling (which will be 10 times better than my Calibra) but I don't want to lose the mid-range torque that I've got so used to.
Thanks in advance,
Paul
