...and they are all supposed to be sold out
Anyway, if anyone is still seeking a P1 I drove past Mill Lane in Basingstoke and there was a P1 in the window - brand new - list price...
...so much for premium prices...
...go on, make them an offer

I wanted one. I was in mad spending mood at the time and would have bought it there and then. But the garage told me that there are all allocated and there is such demand that it isnt really worth waiting to see if one turns up.
I didnt like his second prices so I imported a new WRX instead.
Shame I still fancy a P1. Too late now.

The dealer near me has two!
They seem to be so desperate that they have made one of them the demonstrator!
I am currently looking at the moment after handing my MY98 company car back to Hertz....not sure 31K is good VFM for me. I can hear my accountant growling from his kennel already!

Hardly any cars are being sold in UK period.
Nearly everyone is waiting for results into car prices to ripple through the prices we actually pay. Mercedes have just dropped theri prices by upto 20% from Sept 1st. Its slowly happening.
Plus, there is a new scooby model in like hours!
Im sure it would be very different if this was not the case, but it is.
Ive actually been thinking of changing, and STis arent selling either, so you can get a very good deal from the importers.

David, I'm dead jealous, nice bag!
Note to self - must learn to fly-fish!
Hanningfield resevoir so close!
On topic, P1's suffering like everything else, but also I expect lots of people were counting on good trade in's on their old scoobs and just can't afford to trade up now . I was lucky enough to get rid of my MY97 for £16k back in March. If I'd waited for a P1 I know I would have done much worse now. I personally think production run of 1000 may be reduced, Ford cut production of racing Puma in half after they became aware it wasn't going to sell out. If it does, that's good news for the P1 guys, along with the fact that whatever they buy next will also be cheaper.

I have several old car mags with write-ups on various Prodrive versions as far back as 4-5 years and they are all highly regarded. Generally the test cars are well into the £30k mark so I think that the P1 is reasonably priced but think the total made should have stayed at 500. I would imagine that alot of people ordered them to make a quick few quid but with 1000 units, the number re-selling is quite high. It's appeal may have also taken a knock as it has been reported not to be quite the Evo 6 beater as hyped. I'm certain that Prodrive know what they are doing and must have imagined the complaints that they would receive about the cars braking, for example. Limited runs do cost a huge amount of money but surely a few extra quid to at least attempt to uprate the brakes and dial out a bit of the understeer (i.e remove some of the bump steer) would have helped. I thought that the Autocar 'back-pedalling' article (re bigger wheels and brakes, etc) was a peach - written like it was a back-hander! I would have bought one if I didn't have to use it as a second car but would be really miffed to have to start sodding around with the brakes - I'm sure the Evo is a fantastic car, but running costs are just too high. Oh well, I might be biased - I just love the scooby!

Talking of running costs on the Evo, the latest edition of Autocar quotes an mpg on a run to France in their long term Evo as being 12mpg! That was 7 refils on a 900 mile journey. I just got 31mpg out of my P1 on a run down to Devon with 5 people and luggage. Okay, so the weather wasn't as good but then again, my relatives don't live in France

70 - 80 most of the way, less on the single carriageways. I know the Evo was at an average of 100 but with all the cameras on the road down to Devon (nearly got caught by mobile units 5 times on this trip alone!) it just wasn't worth trying anything faster

MY98 is probably worth about 13k. That leaves me 19k to spend on it before a P1 becomes cost effective. Yes, I know the P1 wil always be worth more but for 19k thats alot of mods!

For £19k - monster engine from scratch, with MoTEC, certainly 350-400bhp, with change for Leda, Brembo/AP, clutch, possibly even transmission. 18in wheels and tyres - with enough change to have a few hours private tuition on the track to learn to drive it properly.
Bargain.
