Smile 03 STi PPP 'edgy in the wet?'

According to Evo magazine and a few other articles i've read, they all say the 03 STi PPP is 'edgy in the wet'.
Why is this?
Is it just PPP STi's?
Is there a cure for this? (Don't say drive slower in the wet!)

I had a PPP WRX 03 for 18 months and that was totally safe on wet roads!

I'm now thinking of getting a Scooby again but should I get what I had, or an STi, and if the STi is a bit funny in the wet, then why should I get one?

Thanks in advance for all your feedback and advice!

Total bollocks! I'm left thinking that these reviewers need to learn to drive. There again, if they were skilled drivers, they wouldn't be journalists, would they?

My MY03 STi PPP is just fine in the wet, thank-you It was just dandy on the ice and snow too.

Mine was a handful in Mildly moist conditions before I got the geometry sorted. Now it's brilliant everywhere. Mind you if it was still on it's crap Brid**stones then I'm sure it would edge for Engerland

Thanks Thrust, so you highly recommend an STi for me? I've just sold an Evo 7 FQ300, and i'm looking for something equally as exciting!

The Evo was superb in every way but due to financial commitments on a property I had to let it go. Is the 03 STi gearbox notchy when cold or just the older ones?

It's very notchy when cold, then it free's up nicely. Plus bit of clutch judder when cold.

I've got no clutch judder or notchiness at all on my 03 Sti

Tyres made a big big difference, the Bridgestones were scaring me so I put some P-Zero Rosso's on and it's transformed it, next step will be some springs and geo setup.

Mine is fine with the PFF's and Prodrive springs/geo settings.

Shaun.

Never had a problem with mine on the standard geom settings.... but mine ran on 18" Toyo's from new.

6 speed gearbox was sweet... cold or warm (same box in my Spec B..equally as smooth)

My STI PPP is edgy with the standard Bridgstones but i'm soon to replace them with Eagle F1's. I had them on the wrx and they were excellent.

Absolutely I love mine, I do 30k miles a year (45k so far), it hasn't missed a beat, it's sheer pleasure to drive, and it pisses on pretty well everything you meet in a normal run. And it sounds wonderful, even with just the out-of-the box PPP exhaust on.

I preferred mine for ride on 18" Eagle F1 GS-D3s - but you do need to pump them up harder (2.4 front, 2.2 back worked for me) as the sidewalls are very soft. But I'm back on the original 17" Bridgestone's at the mo, and they're still very good - they just a bit less sharp on direction.

Two STis (02 and 04) blasting over the moors early in morning for over 3 hours in torrential rain and standing water - if they are edgy in the wet I would not be typing this now
