Question

Currently on my MY00 Impreza I have SS downpipe, rear box and Blitz induction. Just wanted to know which was the best way to go now. Front mount intercooler or Headers both from Scoobymania and is this the best place to get them ? I really enjoy the torque increase from the downpipe and wanted more of the same.

Why not get a straight through centre pipe? Scorpion is as good as the best, and cheaper at £69.

Does the Blitz induction kit make a big difference? And is it noisey?

I also have a MY00 fitted with a SS down pipe & backbox with a magnex centre section.

Blitz is not noisy - sounds nice - performance increase... not much

Re your Magnex centre section. Get rid of it - get a Scooby centre section - you MAY notice the difference

Why do people keep buying crap in the first place

I mean Magnex = Peco Powermaster = Scorpion = Janspeed - need I say anymore

Why not consider a remapped ECU to take full advantage of what you have first and then look at intercoolers and headers after?

I noticed a improvement with my magnex centre and others have swapped from SS to magnex and got a gain...so not sure how universal your law is Steve.

A friend has a Blitz cone for sale.

Spikey,

The Blitz induction makes no more noise than the downpipe, it whistles and hisses when under hard acceleration and was the first upgrade I made to my car. It made a slight difference then, up until someone told me about removing the snorkel box from the original air box in the right side fender. Now you get a much better cold air charge directly to the Blitz filter.

With regard to your Magnex center section did it give you more torque like the SS downpipe, does it increase noise in the car, is the instillation as neat as the SS ?

Sunil,

Who would you suggest to remap my ECU I have had all sorts of opinions on this, that is why I have settled on peripherals for the moment. Also because I live in Trinidad and we do not have a rolling road to set up a proper remap.

Sunil - bored with the Blitz - fancy a HKS?

You may be correct re the Magnex - but I would not buy one and admit it was on my car, after all my name is not 'Kev Boy Racer'

I'm now getting very bored with all this drivel

My Magnex centre is a lovely piece of kit, bought because it is a straight through with a small resonator box in the middle, does this make me a boy racer ? I bought it as it removes some of the noise of a straight through system, purely not to be seen a a 'boy racer'.

Jason 'boy racer' with a crap Magnex pipe !!!

Ok then I stand corrected - just the word Magnex

Reminds me of the early days when the 18 year olds used to talk about this stuff

PBH888, i didnt realise your location. Perhaps then you should just consider a prodrive ecu to avoid worrying about having someone to map a possum link etc for you. IMHO a true remap would be done on the public road - not a rolling road....(flame suit on)

Steve
erm, not sure on your angle Steve, but i can still remember when i was 18. so for me at least - it wasnt that long ago. The fact that you name isnt "kev boy racer" has little relevance for what i, and many others, think is a great bit of kit. Are you sure youre not just a grown up boy racer now?..... . Surely the fact that we all drive cars for whose limits we cannot ordinarily use on a daily basis and try to further tune etc is just a progression of all of us as younger boy racers, or did you not have a childhood then?

Steve - why pay around twice as much for a 3 foot length of stainless steel pipe? What added value does the SS product have over the Scorpion? A Stainless Steel pipe is a Stainless Steel pipe. Granted mine *only* comes with a 15 year warranty, but do you think i'll have the car in 15 years time??

Oh and Steve - your name WAS 'Steve Boy Racer' outside the Nont Sarah in March - before and after you outbraked yourself and missed the car park entrance infront of 73 cars and 100+ people

mmmmmm Glass houses....stones....throw...

Can still chuckle myself to sleep just thinking about it.....

Ok - my own personal opinion - but I would'nt buy it - its not that theres any difference as such - its just the fact that it epitomises the Kev boy racer image - which I was trying to get away from - I would not rate it any higher than the crap stuff that is put on cars like Nova's, RS Turbo's, etc

Gary - most of us were a bunch of nutters on that day up at Nont Sarah - you keep talking about it - have you so little left in your life that you only get pleasure from reminding me - AP 4 pots on now.

Wont see you at the 24 Sept I see - may not be there myself - heard a few adverse comments

RichiB - Aston Martins are for sad 'old' timers - perhaps I may like them - but only when I become an Octagenarian!

Rgds

I reckon this steve bloke must of fell out of bed and banged his head one night, so there must be a lot of boy racers on the scooby net then
that have a non S Sport pipe fitted to there cars and how the f--k can you call Janspeed crap and i thought Vauxhal Astra's were one of the best max power boy racer cars !!! and dont most cosworth drivers have dump to air dump valves hmm and that does not make a lot of noise does it !

Huxley - I just sold my Astra GSI kev boy racer car - and no it aint normally rated that highly cos of the crap suspension - something I didnt personally agree with

Jes Jase - you ARE a boy racer - far younger than me!

and my car before the Subaru was a heavily modded Escort Cosworth

and no I dont have a SS exhaust - bpm actually

I make advserse criticisms if I'm having a bad day - i.e. most days

Re the exhausts - suppose if its a centre pipe noone will know

What do I know my Subaru is still fairly standard - apart from about £6k of goodies

and Jase the VF22 failed after 3 months - obviously a bad batch!

Hey guys we're all different would be boring otherwise - whatever the individual is happy with goes.
I'm 46 YO saddo, just had full SS system from turbo back fitted on MY00 UK car, still driving round in second gear RRROOOOOAAAAARRRR bouncing sound off narrow streets - great fun, some will think i'm sad, whatever (I probably am, but i'm happy!!)

P.S. Drive home reactions:
Billericay - nonchalant (but bloke at bus stop with dustbin sized earphones turned round)
Dunmow - impressed
Thaxted - very impressed
Outside Thaxted - bluerinse in P 206 had to pull over in shock and let me past
