How do you work out the exact model on an import car when there are only 6 numbers after the initial 3 letter code (GC8-****** in my case) UK cars have a unique code which identifies the exact model i.e. sti ra etc etc.....Totally stuck on this one????

Good question. That list only gives the model codes which IIRC mine doesn't have. My 98 WRX has GF8 then 6 digits.
