If you are remotely interested in driving take a look at this.
1989, No traction Control, No Power Steering, No ABS, manual gearbox. 750+bhp. Real slicks, The best GP track. Pole. FLAT OUT.

Its so refreshing to see car control at that level... truly committed but right on the edge of control..
Its a shame todays F1 drivers are not a patch on him.

I just watched that lap over and over again.. just on the edge of what is possible.
A lot has been lost in the years since then as the technology and the rules have changed. Cars are faster now, but safer, and something has gone.

DJ you are not wron there. That qualy lap if I remember right was just the start of it. During the race Senna an Prost clashed at the hairpin, Prost retired and Senna carried on only to pit to replace his nose cone. Came out and demolished Nanini at the same hairpin. Went on to win the race, only to be disqualified!
Senna went ballistic in the post race interview.
Does not happen any more.

Formula Flop
Take today's race - more rule changes - more boredom.
Cars refusing to qualify, Cars refusing to finish, Drivers refusing to make a lunge down the inside in case they flat spot the tyres, Drivers refusing to hang the back out round the corner in case they pick up dirt, Drivers unable or unwilling to get anywhere within a few seconds of the guy in front - even when they are 3/4 secs a lap quicker.
