?????????????????????

Model years went from Sept to Aug ie MY97 Sep96 - Aug97 I'm sure. Therefore:

MY97 P reg
MY98 R reg
MY99 S reg
Mine is a November 96, but MY97 model. Anyone else agree?

Cars registered between September 1999 and February 2000 have a V plate.

A car made in Nov 99 will be MY00 and will be on a V plate when brought into the UK. The question isn't anything to do with model years, unless I've lost the ability to read

Yep I agree. The mates Sept 99 will probably be a MY99, on a 'V' plate too.

Mines a UK Sept 99 reg'd car and is a MY99 on a 'V'

Ah, mine must have been built before Sept then. I know my VIN number states I'm in a MY99.

The joys of Subaru ownership - confused? I will be.

It was built before August/September and was hanging around before being sold?

The differences are small - variable intermittancy on the wash wipe, different wheels, ISOFix seatbelts, "metallic effect" centre console... And probably something else incredibly minor!

There's a document on here somewhere that interprets your VIN giving a MY for the car.

A search on here should find it.

Sounds like you've a MY99 to me though. Has the surround around the stereo and gear stick got a silver finish? If it has it's a MY00.

Yes, and coded door mirrors too. Having said that, there are many who've done this as an aftermarket mod (me included) so it's tricky relying on this.

Beastie, not on UK spec cars. The MY01 bugeye was the first one to get A/C as standard.

Some people accuse Impreza owners of being nerds. I can't imagine where we get that image from!

Chiark. Disagree mate. AC as standard on MY00UK. Saw it at the motor show and a friend of mine has one (from new). Maybe there were some cars supplied without?
Anyway i think we are going a bit too "deep".
