MY03 or MY05 Euro Import
As above, looked at an STi Type UK MY03 on a 53 plate a couple of weeks ago. In the time it's taken me to sort insurance (got to turn 23 in March for Tesco's) it's got me thinking. The MY05 STi is available via Alliance Car Imports from stock at knock on £21k plus £800 for alarm/tracker.
The MY03 is up for a shade under 17k with 21k miles on the clock and 3 owners, is it worth the extra 4k for the Euro import or safest to stick with Type UK and 3 owners?
I've not read any reports MY03 vs MY05, can someone shed some light on this?

The MY05 STi that I drove today had the DCCD so maybe not the car that you're looking at but I would say if the non DCCD handled the same I would go for the new model.
Absolutley!

05 benefits from the revised suspension geometry and new spec Bridgestone RE070 tyres, the option of DCCD and a better interior, and the fact that it is BRAND NEW with a full 3 years of warranty to enjoy. I was told the other day that Prodrives website even says that the PPP can be fitted to UK and EU spec cars (I haven't checked though), so I guess they've given in and would rather kop for some of the cash they're loosing out on due to their own red tape.
A new UK car would usually be around 24k and benefit (ATM) from the 3yr free servicing deal and also Subaru Assured breakdown cover, thus negating much of the 2k or so saved buying an import. This saving is further erroded by the fact that EU cars usually sell for about 1k less than Type UK's. If you do have to make a warranty claim, the process can be slowed a little due to approval having to be saught from the country of origin, even though IM become holders of the warranty
It's a fine line these days fully justifying an import if you take all the figures into account, but initially they are appealling.

Going upto a 25k purchase isn't an option, I have just spunked out on a GT TDi and can't afford two cars at this cost on the drive.
The contest is between MY03 Type UK and MY05 import, only a couple of responses but everything pointing to >>>> MY05
